Sony Launches Alpha 7 V and FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II

Today, Sony introduces the Alpha 7 V, the highly anticipated fifth generation in the popular Alpha 7 Full-frame mirrorless line-up powered by the newly developed partially stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS image sensor with approximately 33.0 effective MP (megapixels). The new image processing engine BIONZ XR2™1 incorporates the AI processing unit functions of the latest α™ (AlphaTM) series. Through these innovations, the Alpha 7 V delivers a significant performance boost across every aspect of imaging, from Real-time Recognition2 AF(Auto-Focus) to Real-time Tracking3, speed, stable colour accuracy, still capture, and video versatility.

Enhancing content integrity: Sony launches comprehensive video authenticity verification for news media

Sony is furthering its commitment to authenticity in video content by extending its verification technology to a broader lineup of cameras. This initiative marks the next significant step in providing news organisations with the industry's first camera authenticity solution compatible with video[1], including compliance with the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity, which is an organisation that develops open standards and technical specifications for the provenance and authenticity of digital content) standard.

Sony is providing free software updates[1] for the interchangeable-lens cameras Alpha 1 II and Alpha 9 III starting October 30, 2025. These updates support "Real-time Recognition AF+ (Plus)" with improved person recognition performance and recording of authenticity information for videos. Some features of this software update are planned for deployment to other models in the future.
