Sony Unveils the FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS G Master™

May 13, 2026 — Sony introduces the FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS, the newest addition to its flagship G Master™ lens series for full-frame Alpha™ E-mount cameras. Covering a 100-400 mm focal range with a constant F4.5 aperture, the lens delivers the exceptional resolution and bokeh that define the G Master series, high-precision autofocus (AF) up to approximately 3x faster1,2 than the FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS. Weighing approximately 65 oz. (1,840 g) with an internal zoom structure, its stable weight balance offers highly mobile shooting capabilities. The FE 100-400mm F4.5 GM OSS gives wildlife, birding, sports, and photojournalism creators the speed, reach, and image quality to capture decisive moments in any environment, expanding their creative possibilities.

Today, Sony introduces the Alpha 7 V, the highly anticipated fifth generation in the popular Alpha 7 Full-frame mirrorless line-up powered by the newly developed partially stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS image sensor with approximately 33.0 effective MP (megapixels). Enhancing content integrity: Sony launches comprehensive video authenticity verification for news media

Sony is furthering its commitment to authenticity in video content by extending its verification technology to a broader lineup of cameras. This initiative marks the next significant step in providing news organisations with the industry's first camera authenticity solution compatible with video[1], including compliance with the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity, which is an organisation that develops open standards and technical specifications for the provenance and authenticity of digital content) standard.

Sony is providing free software updates[1] for the interchangeable-lens cameras Alpha 1 II and Alpha 9 III starting October 30, 2025. These updates support "Real-time Recognition AF+ (Plus)" with improved person recognition performance and recording of authenticity information for videos. Some features of this software update are planned for deployment to other models in the future.
