Sony Launches ‘FE 100-400MM F5.6-8 OSS’, The Perfect Super-Telephoto Zoom Lens for Hobbyists 

Sony introduces ‘FE 100-400MM F5.6-8 OSS’, a super-telephoto 100mm – 400mm zoom lens for 35mm full-frame Alpha™ E-mount cameras, a lens you can easily carry to get closer to the moments you can’t reach. Despite its super-telephoto capabilities shooting up to 400mm, this new lens is compact and lightweight, weighing just 654g (approx.). Excellent image quality is realized across the entire zoom range thanks to the latest optical design incorporating two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and two aspherical elements. The lens also features fast, precise AF (autofocus) performance to help capture moving subjects such as birds, sports, trains and aircraft, and built-in optical image stabilisation supports handheld shooting in the super-telephoto range.

New Dedicated Viewfinder and XLR Handle Unit Also Available 

Sony Launches the “FX5,” a Cinema Line Camera with a Newly Developed Image Sensor, Open Gate Recording Formats, Internal RAW Recording and Enhanced Operability 

Sony introduces the “FX5,” a new full-frame camera in its Cinema Line series. The camera is equipped with a newly developed fully-stacked CMOS image sensor and further enhances sensitivity performance[1] through 15+ stops of dynamic range, a Dual Gain Shooting[2] mode, and three base ISO settings. For the first time in the Cinema Line FX series, it supports Open Gate shooting as well as in-camera recording in X-OCN, Sony’s proprietary RAW format. The camera is capable of shooting in 5K at up to 60 frames per second, in 4K up to 120 frames per second and in FHD up to 240 frame per second. These features bring together the Cinema Line look[3] and operability designed to meet the needs of production environments in a compact, highly portable body. This release will also include two new optional accessories: a detachable OLED viewfinder and an XLR Handle that enables recording in-camera at up to 96 kHz, 32-bit float. The camera system incorporates expertise that Sony has cultivated through the development of Cinema Line cameras, which have earned high praise from cinematographers and video creators around the world.
