If your TV screen's brightness suddenly changes (gets brighter or darker), you may need to adjust your TV's Display settings.
Check the Light sensor setting
Depending on your model, check the Auto luminance level, Ambient light sensor, Light and Color sensor, or Light sensor settings. If the sensor setting is On, the brightness of the TV screen changes to match the ambient lighting.
To access these settings, follow the steps below:
- Open the
Settings screen. How to access Settings
- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select Display & Sound → Ambient Optimisation Pro → Auto adjust according to ambient light → Advanced settings → Auto luminance level.
- Select Display & Sound → Picture → Ambient light sensor or Light sensor → Auto luminance level.
- Select Display & Sound → Picture → Light and Color sensor → Brightness.
- Select Display & Sound → Picture → Light sensor.
- Select Display → Picture → Light sensor.
Notes: The Ambient light sensor or Light sensor is located near the centre of the bottom part of the TV screen.
Check the Peak Luminance setting
If an image that is likely to cause image retention is displayed on the screen, the brightness gradually dims to protect the TV. The brightness returns to normal if you change the screen or perform another action that eliminates the risks of image retention.
If you want to manually reduce the brightness, simply lower the Peak Luminance setting:
- Open the
Settings screen. How to access Settings
- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select Display & Sound → Picture & Sound → Picture → Brightness → Peak luminance → Medium or Low.
- Select Display & Sound → Picture → Brightness → Peak luminance → Medium or Low.
- Select Display & Sound → Picture → Advanced settings → Brightness → Peak luminance → Medium or Low.
- Select Display → Picture → Advanced settings → Brightness → Peak Luminance → Medium or Low.
Notes: The brightness dims more frequently on screens with bright, still images, such as the HOME screen and the app's top screen.
