How to turn Closed Captioning (CC) or Subtitles on or off when viewing Netflix content

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

    Availability of closed captioning and subtitles when watching Netflix content depends on the version of the Netflix app on your device.

    Using the latest Netflix version

    1. Launch the Netflix app.
    2. Select a TV show or movie.
    3. Select Audio & Subtitles from the options panel.
    4. Select your preferred audio or subtitle options.
    5. Press Back to return to the options panel.
    6. Select Play.

    On some products, audio and subtitle options can be accessed while a TV show or movie is playing:

    1. Launch the Netflix app.
    2. Select a TV show or movie.
    3. While your TV show or movie is playing, press the Up arrow.
    4. Select the  Dialog icon.
      Note:  If the Dialog icon does not appear, press the Down arrow while your TV show or movie is playing to open the audio and subtitle menu.
    5. Select your preferred audio or subtitle options.

    Note: If you're unable to complete the steps above, your device does not support this feature.

    Using an earlier Netflix version

    1. Open the Netflix app.
    2. Select and begin playing a TV show or movie.
    3. Using your supplied remote, press the Subtitle or CC button, or press the down arrow button twice.
    4. Select Audio & Subtitles.
    5. Select Subtitles.

    Note: The closed captioning and subtitles feature is not supported on some devices with early versions of the Netflix app.
