Receiver does not power on after a firmware update

IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

If your AV receiver does not turn on after a firmware update, the update may have been interrupted (for example, due to a power cut or a disconnected cable).

In most cases, the receiver is not broken—it is waiting to resume and complete the update.

How to resume and complete the AV receiver update

    1. Unplug the receiver
      • Disconnect the power cable
      • Wait at least 1 minute
    2. Plug it back in
      • Use the supplied power cable and reconnect the receiver to the power outlet
    3. Wait
      • After a few minutes, you may hear a soft “click” from inside the unit
      • This is normal
    4. Check the power light
      • If the LED near the power button starts blinking, the update is continuing automatically
      • If the light stays solid, wait about 5 minutes and continue
    5. Let the update finish
      • This can take 5 to 30 minutes
      • Do not unplug or press any buttons during this time
    6. When it’s done
      • The front display will show “COMPLETE”
      • Wait another 3 minutes for the receiver to restart

    What to expect

    • The receiver may appear unresponsive at first
    • Lights may blink or stay on for a while
    • This is part of the recovery process
