How to turn off your TV automatically

Useful settings to reduce power consumption

    Have you ever fallen asleep with the TV on or forgotten to turn it off? Try setting the Idle TV power off, Idle TV Standby, or Turn off TV after feature. The TV will automatically go into standby after a certain period of inactivity and save power by automating the power-off function.

    Note: The feature name (Idle TV power off, Idle TV Standby, or Turn off TV after) differs depending on the TV model.

    To turn off your TV automatically

    1. Open the Settings screen.

      To access your Settings
      • If the remote control has a Quick Settings button
        1. Press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control.
        2. Select Settings.
      • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings button
        1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
        2. Select Settings.
    2. The following steps depend on your TV menu options:
      • Select System Power & EnergyEnergy SaverIdle TV power off or Turn off TV after.
      • Select System Power and EnergyIdle TV power off.
      • Select Device Preferences, Power or BRAVIA Settings Power or Eco Idle TV standby
      • Select System Settings or PreferencesEco Idle TV standby.
    3. Choose your desired period of inactivity.

    To schedule a TV power off

    Note:  If you prefer to turn off the TV at a particular time, e.g., turn off at 10 pm, use the sleep timer function. The procedure differs depending on the TV model and the following is an example for reference. Consult your manual or Help Guide if your TV menu path differs from the example below. 

    1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
    2. The next steps depend on your TV menu options:
      • Select AppsSee all Timers & ClockSleep timer → Select the desired option.
      • Select (Timers icon) → Sleep timer → Select the desired option.
