Change your Eco settings and Timer settings to prevent your TV from going into standby or screen turning black

    1-1. Power Saving

When you select [Picture Off], only sound remains.

    1-2. Idle TV Standby

Turns the TV off after it has been idle for a preset time.

    1-3. PC Power Management

Turns the TV off when there is no signal from the PC input source for 30 seconds.

    1-4. (Intelligent) Presence Sensor

When no viewer is detected in front of the TV for a preset time, the picture automatically turns off, while leaving only the TV sound on. Additionally, after 30 minutes in picture off mode, the TV will switch to standby mode.

The Presence Sensor is available depending on the model, and may work on ambient temperatures (older models), or face recognition.

To set the [Presence Sensor], press HOME and select [Settings] > [System Settings] > [Eco] > [Presence Sensor] > and then choose your desired option.

[Strong]: Turns the picture off automatically shortly after the sensor recognises no facial patterns. This is the mode recommended for effectively reducing power consumption

[Moderate]: Darkens the screen temporarily when the sensor recognises no facial patterns, or turns the picture off after no movement is detected for a preset time. This is the mode recommended to avoid missing content while reducing power consumption

[Mild]: Turns the picture off if the sensor detects no facial patterns or movements for a preset time. You can set the length of time until the TV screen turns off. This is the mode recommended for normal TV usage with basic power savings

    [Off]: Turns off [Presence Sensor]

[Demo]: Quickly checks the operation of [Presence Sensor]

    [Picture Off] (if available): Sets the length of time until the TV screen turns off. You can select the following times when [Mild] in [Sensor Mode] is selected: 60 / 55 / 50 / 45 / 40 / 35 / 30 / 25 / 20 / 15 / 10 /5

[Auto Power Off] (if available): Automatically switches to standby mode about 30 minutes after the picture has been turned off

NOTE: The message [Picture will turn off soon due to Presence Sensor.] appears before the picture is turned off. The message does not appear when either [Strong] or [Demo] is selected.

    Possible sensor issues

    1. Sensor is not activated

    • Sensor may not detect anything if the person in front of the TV does not move.
    • Sensor is sensitive to movement from side to side and up and down and is less sensitive to the viewer’s forward or backward movement.
    • Sensor detection range may vary depending on the TV’s location, room temperature and lighting conditions.

    2. Sensor is unintentionally activated

    • Avoid placing any obstacles in front of the sensor.
    • Sensor may not recognize facial patterns depending on the circumstances, e.g. when the viewer is looking down, lying motionless, wearing face masks or glasses, or backlit.

    2. Timer settings

Also, your Timer settings may cause the TV go in Standby.

To access Clock/Timer settings for Sony Bravia non-Android TVs, press [Home Menu] > [System Settings] > [Clock/Timers].

    • [On Timer]: Turns on the TV from standby mode at the time you set
    • [Sleep Timer]: Turns the TV off after a preset time. When you turn off the TV and turn it on again, [Sleep Timer] is reset to [Off]
    • [Clock set]: Set up the clock manually or automatically
