The pictures are dark or discoloured even when using the flash

Applicable Products and Categories of This Article

If the subject is beyond the flash range (the distance that the flash can reach), the pictures will be dark because the flash light cannot reach the subject. If you change the ISO, the flash range also changes.

In certain shooting situations it may be necessary to use an external light source to adequately illuminate the subjects in the photo. If you believe you should not need to use an external light source for the environment you are taking pictures in, or your pictures are dark or discoloured even when using the flash and external lighting, follow this procedure to troubleshoot.
