Car stereo system runs hot or is producing an unusual amount of heat

While in use, the inside of the device heats up. This does not usually indicate a malfunction. However, if the device becomes too hot to touch, confirm the following:

There are a couple of reasons why the back of the car stereo may become too hot to touch during normal operation.

• The audio system may not be installed properly.
• The speaker wires have been combined rather than only having two wires connected for each speaker.

IMPORTANT: It is recommended that the speaker wires and installation of the car stereo be checked by a qualified professional installer.

If the issue is still unresolved after a qualified installer has checked the system, service may be required.
