Before you start
The steps to reset the Home Audio System to factory settings vary depending on the model. Select the appropriate steps below based on your system's model name.
If your model name is not listed, please check the manual. Manuals are posted on Sony's support website.
NOTE: You can find the reset procedure in the Troubleshooting section of the Help Guide or Operating Instructions.
Resetting the Home Audio System
IMPORTANT
- Use the controls on the system to perform the reset.
- All user-configured settings will be reset to factory default settings.
CMT-SBT20, CMT-SBT20B
- Press the On/Standby button to turn on the system.
- At the same time, press and hold the FUNCTION and EJECT buttons until RESET appears on the display window.
CMT-SBT40D, CMT-X3CD
- Turn on the system.
- At the same time, press and hold the FUNCTION and EJECT buttons until RESET appears on the display window.
CMT-X5CDB
- Disconnect the power cord and confirm that the STANDBY indicator is not lit. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn on the system.
- At the same time, press and hold the FUNCTION and ON/Standby buttons until RESET appears on the display window.
GTK-X1BT
- Unplug the power cord, then plug it back in.
- Press the ON/Standby button to turn on the system.
- While holding down the
(STOP) button, press the FUNCTION button for about 3 seconds.
GTK-XB5
- Disconnect and reconnect the AC power cord (mains lead), and then turn on the system.
- At the same time, press and hold the FUNCTION
PAIRING and VOLUME - (minus) buttons for more than 5 seconds.
GTK-XB60, GTK-XB90
Resetting the system
- Using a pin or other pointed object, press the RESET button located on the back of the unit.
- Press the
(POWER) button to turn the system back on.
NOTE: Pairing information is not deleted when you press RESET.
Restoring the system to factory default settings
- Press the
(POWER) button to turn on the system. - At the same time, press and hold the FUNCTION
PAIRING and the VOLUME - (minus) buttons for more than 5 seconds.
GTK-XB7
- Disconnect and reconnect the AC power cord (mains lead), then turn on the system.
- At the same time, press and hold the FUNCTION and the VOLUME - (minus) buttons for more than 5 seconds.
GTK-XB72
- Unplug the AC power cord (mains lead) from the system, then plug it back in.
- Press the
(POWER) button to turn on the system. - At the same time, press and hold the FUNCTION/
PAIRING and - (VOLUME minus) buttons on the system for more than 5 seconds.
MHC-V02, MHC-V21, MHC-V21D, MHC-V42D, MHC-V43D, MHC-V71, MHC-V71D, MHC-V72D, MHC-V73D, MHC-V81D, MHC-V82D, MHC-V83D
- Unplug the AC power cord (mains lead) from the system, then plug it back in.
- Press the
(POWER) button to turn on the system. - At the same time, press and hold the GUITAR and MEGA BASS buttons for about 3 seconds.
MHC-V11
- Disconnect and reconnect the AC power cord (mains lead), then turn on the system.
- At the same time, press and hold the
(STOP) and Folder - (minus) buttons until RESET appears on the display window.
MHC-V13

Unplug the AC power cord (mains lead) from the system, then plug it back in.

Press the
(POWER) button to turn on the system.

At the same time, press and hold the FIESTA and GUITAR buttons for about 3 seconds.
