Set up a Google account

If you haven’t yet set up your new BRAVIA TV, start by downloading the Google Home app to your mobile phone.
Create and register an account, then set up using the app.

Setting up Google TV

Already set up your new BRAVIA as a basic TV? That’s OK, it’s easy to set it up as a Google TV so you can enjoy worlds of entertainment. Just select Set up Google TV from the Home screen.

How to watch broadcast TV programmes

Press the Quick Settings button on your remote, then select Channel & Inputs → Channels → Channel setup → Auto tuning → Digital*. Once you press Set up, your TV will start scanning for channels.

*A different option may appear depending on your service provider.

How to use Gemini on your TV

Find movies, get answers to your questions, and control your other smart home devices, using just your voice. Say "Hey Google" and tell Gemini what you're in the mood for; it’ll help you discover the perfect pick by providing content details, asking clarifying questions, and providing suggestions based on what you like.

How to use the remote control

Your new BRAVIA includes a remote with a built-in microphone and Google Assistant so you can control what you want to watch with just your voice.

Say "OK Google" to control your TV

Press the Google Assistant button on the remote control. As long as you’re connected to the Internet and set up for Google TV, you can now do all your searching using voice control. Just say “OK Google” and ask a question or say a command such as “OK Google, open Netflix”, and your BRAVIA TV will respond.

Change TV settings

There’s a range of useful settings you can change, including volume, playback, and inputs.

Check the weather

Say “OK Google, view forecast” to find out what the weather is going to be like.

Search for movies

Say “OK Google, show me action movies” to bring up a range of films to choose from.

Check your product model

On your screen, scroll right and select All Settings. Now scroll down to Help and feedback → Help. All of your support information will appear on the screen, including a QR code, which you can scan using your smartphone for more information about your BRAVIA.

All your apps, all in one place

BRAVIA comes with essential apps, like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime already pre-installed. Others you may want to add.

Open the My BRAVIA app

Inside the My BRAVIA app, you will find exclusive offers, news of the latest releases to pair with your TV, and useful tips and support when you need it.

Choose from 10,000 apps

Apps are located under the Apps tab on the Home screen. The top two rows of apps appear in the favourites list for quick access. Simply select an app to open it.

Install a new app

To find apps, select Apps from the top menu of your Home screen and browse using your remote. Alternatively, use the Search for Apps bar at the bottom of the Apps screen. If you want to download an app, you can search for it on the Home screen, and if it’s available, you’ll get a Google Play Store pop up where you can download it.

Organise your apps

To move apps, hover over the app and hold down the OKbutton on your remote. Next, choose the move option on the screen. Now you can use the arrow keys to move the app. When you have the app in the position you want, select OK.

Build your watchlist

Add shows, movies or YouTube videos that you would like to watch later, and you won't have to search for them again. Update your list simply by clicking the Watchlist icon when browsing on your TV, mobile app, or Google search. You can even ask Gemini for personalised recommendations and save your next watch hands-free. The content will then appear on your Google TV's watchlist, ready to watch when you are.

Useful Settings

Simply press the button with the spanner icon located on the top-right of your remote control to access the Quick Settings menu. You can then scroll across to select Picture & Sound.

Picture settings

BRAVIA comes ready to go right out of the box. But for a truly personal experience that reflects the entertainment you like to watch, spend a few moments adjusting the settings so everything is picture perfect. You can easily fine-tune the picture settings to bring the best out of your favourite entertainment – for example, by selecting Cinema mode if you watch a lot of films or adjusting the motion settings if you enjoy fast-moving sports.

Choose your content type

The picture mode can be adjusted to best suit what you're watching.

Start by selecting your Content type, then choose the optimised Picture mode you prefer. For example, you could choose Cinema when watching the latest blockbuster.

My Cinema mode

This feature automatically optimises the picture/sound settings for the film you are watching when in 'Movie' mode. This includes automatically activating your soundbar and speakers.

To enable, press the [THREE DOTS] icon on your remote control, select My Cinema from the on-screen menu, then click Yes.

There are presets for the Director's cut, Daytime viewing, and clearer Dialogue, which you can configure to suit your personal preferences. Studio Calibrated modes for Netflix, Prime, and SONY PICTURES CORE are automatically applied.

Motion settings

If you enjoy action movies and sports, it’s a good idea to adjust the motion settings so movement is as clear and smooth as possible. Features like Motionflow and XR Motion Clarity allow you to watch fast-moving scenes with less blur and judder.

1. Select Picture & Sound from the Quick Settings menu. 2. Under Content type, select Picture. 3. Scroll down to select Motion. We recommend putting the Motionflow feature into Auto mode.

Ambient Optimisation Pro

This feature automatically optimises your picture and sound based on how much light is in your room, and how furniture and other sound-absorbing objects are positioned.

To activate, enter the Picture & Sound menu, then scroll down until you reach Ambient Optimisation Pro. Use the toggles to auto adjust according to light, your position, and more.

More detailed picture settings

You can fine-tune other picture settings, including colour, contrast, brightness, saturation, and black level from the picture settings dashboard which can be accessed from the Quick Settings menu. Simply scroll down and use the slider controls to adjust settings.

Sound settings

Whatever you love to watch and listen to, feel even more immersed by personalising your acoustics with these sound-enhancing settings and features.

Choose your content type

Press the button with the spanner icon located on the top-right of your remote control to access the Quick Settings menu. You can then scroll across to select Picture & Sound.

Choose your Content type for the sound settings to be optimised for what you're listening to.

Hear clearer dialogue with Voice Zoom

This feature allows you to enhance voices without adjusting the volume on your TV.

Scroll up to maximise voices - perfect when watching movies late at night without waking others! Scroll down to minimise voices – perhaps if you'd like to hear more of the stadium atmosphere, and less commentary.

Acoustic Auto Calibration

Sit in your favourite spot and set up Acoustic Auto Calibration to get the best possible sound from your TV speakers. It’s easy to do. You'll find the feature by clicking on Picture & Sound, then scrolling down to Ambient Optimisation Pro. Here, you can select Acoustic auto calibration and follow the on-screen instructions to get set up.

3D surround

Pair compatible Sony headphones or a neckband speaker with your BRAVIA to automatically activate the 3D surround feature. You can optimise this immersive sound experience to your unique ear shape using the 360 Spatial Sound Personaliser in the Sony | Headphones Connect app.

Game settings

Your new BRAVIA puts you right at the heart of the action with an exclusive gaming dashboard where your settings and assist functions can be accessed quickly while playing. Become the gamer you always knew you could be.

Step 1: Enter Game mode

With Game Mode, you’re straight into the action. Press the button with the spanner icon on the top-right of your remote control. Under Content type, select Game.

Step 2: View the Game Menu

Once the TV is in Game Mode, press Menu on your remote to bring up the Game Menu with an array of essential settings.

Step 3: Adjust settings on the Game Menu

Now you can toggle through the gaming features on the TV screen with the help of the arrow keys on the remote to get your settings just right. Set the screen size and position, reduce motion blur on fast-moving games, activate a black equalizer to spot enemies in dark areas, and add a crosshair for easier aiming.

Auto HDR Tone Mapping

Catch more of the detail in high-contrast scenes. With Auto HDR Tone Mapping, the HDR settings will be optimised instantly during your PS5™ console’s initial setup. Your PS5™ automatically recognises individual BRAVIA TV models and selects the best HDR setting for your TV. So even in high contrast scenes, you’ll see the crucial details and colours in the brightest and darkest parts of the screen.

Auto Genre Picture Mode

Enjoy games and more with your PS5™ console. BRAVIA XR TVs can detect whether you are playing a game or watching movies and shows. Start setup

To make your TV more energy efficient and save power, first select the gear-shaped button on your remote, then select Eco Dashboard. Now open the Easy Eco setup box and select Start to get going.

Power saving

The first feature you’ll set up is Power Saving. Selecting Low or High reduces power consumption while choosing Off optimises picture quality with a brighter screen.

Ambient light sensor

Now select your ambient light settings. Selecting On optimises brightness according to the light in your room – if your room is dark, the screen will automatically darken to save power.

Idle TV power

Next decide how long you want your TV to stay on after you’ve left the room. Choosing a lower time reduces power consumption so you can save costs and help protect the environment.

Power consumption

Monitor and compare how much power you are using per year, month, week, or day. Simply open your Power consumption report from the Eco Dashboard menu, then select from the tabs at the top of the graph.

The more you optimise your settings in the Eco Dashboard, the more energy you will save.

Eco setup complete

Once you have finished Eco set up, you can always go back to the Eco Dashboard to adjust settings. See how your power consumption reports improve as you make more eco-friendly choices.

Connect your soundbar

On the back of your TV, locate the ARC/eARC input. On the back of your soundbar, locate the TV OUT (ARC) slot. Connect them both using a HDMI cable.

If the soundbar doesn't immediately play sound, check your TV and soundbar settings are set to output via the Audio system.

How to set up BRAVIA CAM

As soon as you connect BRAVIA CAM to your TV, the setup wizard will appear. You can also access BRAVIA CAM from the Settings menu and just select Remote & accessories to find it.

Settings optimised with Ambient Optimization Pro

Ambient Optimization Pro automatically optimises the picture and sound based on where you are in the room. It’s easy to set up. Go to the TV Accessories menu, select BRAVIA CAM, then Auto adjust Picture and Sound, and you’re done.

Auto power saving mode

Save energy when you're not in front of the TV. To keep your energy consumption down, go to the BRAVIA CAM menu and turn on the Auto power saving mode feature. Then choose a power saving level and a time for power saving to kick in.

How to control your TV with gestures

It’s really handy being able to change channels, adjust volume, and more using simple gestures because you don't need to reach out for the remote. From the BRAVIA CAM settings menu, scroll to Gesture Control and select the Gesture control tutorial for a helpful introduction.

Proximity Alert

Kids make a habit of sitting right in front of the TV. Proximity Alert in the BRAVIA CAM menu lets you set a suitable viewing distance for your child and alerts them with an on-screen warning if they get too close.

How do I connect a device to my TV?

It's easy to connect your TV to other devices, including your Internet, smartphone, tablet, home theatre, soundbar, computer, headphones, gaming console, camera, and more.

If your TV is connected to the Internet, you will be prompted to update the software as soon as a new one is available. If you've dismissed this notification, use the following path to perform an update: Settings > System > About > Software Update

If your TV is not connected to the Internet, you can update the software via USB:

Find your TV model on the Sony Support website.
Download the latest update.
Unzip the file, open the extracted folder, and copy the contained file onto your USB stick.
Insert the USB into your TV and you'll be prompted to begin the update.

It’s easy to get all your channels set up! Ensure you are connected to the relevant cable or antenna from your service provider, and then use the following navigation:

What is eARC and how is it different to ARC?

eARC stands for Enhanced Audio Return Channel. It’s an improved version of ARC (regular Audio Return Channel).

With the evolution of sound technologies, improving the ARC connection became necessary to allow it to carry much more information – so the main differences between ARC and eARC lie in bandwidth and speed.

Higher bandwidth allows a higher amount of data to be transferred. The digital audio signal doesn’t have to be compressed and is much more detailed, rich, and vibrant. As a result, with eARC, you can enjoy movie theatre quality surround sound via formats such as DTS:X and Dolby Atmos.

How do I view 4K and HDR content (via HDMI) on a Sony 4K TV?

Connect your TV to a HDMI device that supports 4K using a High Speed HDMI Cable. Now press the HOME button on your remote and complete the following navigation:

Settings > External inputs (in the TV category) > HDMI signal format > Enhanced format

HDR (High Dynamic Range) content will play when a compatible HDMI device is connected to your TV.
