Through the combination of using a solid, more saturated colour together with the matte texture of the glass on the back, which pursues functional beauty, we have created a multi-tonal colour that can look both like bright orange or dark red depending on the angle of view or environment.”
This is the philosophy that spurred the creation of Xperia 1 VI in its vibrant new scarlet hue.
We put the new scarlet phone in the hands of Sony imaging ambassador Mathias Kniepeiss to get his interpretation and visual creativity of this colourful marvel that combines beauty with technical excellence.
“Creativity, elegance, the extraordinary colour of the phone, that it is also a high class and technical product with which you can do more than just make phone calls,” these were Mathias’ initial words on seeing the new phone first hand.
“The special colour looks very refreshing and is really different from anything I've seen so far. In addition, the texture of the surface makes the phone even more interesting, both visually and haptically. The size is also very well chosen, it is neither too big nor too small and therefore fits very well in the hand.”
On his creative execution Mathias said, “I chose the concept with the light strips to draw the viewer's attention to the striking colour of the phone and make it even more interesting due to the lighting. Usually, the viewer is distracted from the product by the surroundings, backgrounds, etc. and I hope I have succeeded in bringing the phone to the fore with this concept.”
On his experience in using the camera on Xperia 1 VI, Mathias is particularly impressed with the superb lowlight capabilities, the telephoto macro feature, and the bokeh mode. He remarks, “It’s exciting to see how closely mobile phone cameras now match professional ones. The low-light performance is especially crucial when you're out in the evening. The low image noise and detail retention in RAW format are impressive, providing significant advantages in post-production.”
He highlights the exceptional telephoto macro mode, saying, “I love capturing details that are hard for the naked eye to see; it’s a way to reveal the hidden worlds around us. The intricate details are not only beautiful but truly impressive—perfectly capturing even the smallest creatures and spaces.”
Mathias also notes that bokeh effects have traditionally distinguished professional photographers who favour lenses like the FE 50mm f/1.2 GM. However, he believes Sony's advanced optical zoom technology in the Xperia has made great strides in this area. “Many people use mobile cameras for portraits of family and friends, and Sony's ongoing innovations will certainly impress users looking for that professional touch.”
