Xperia 1 VI in the field - Nature Photography

Olle Nilsson

Wildlife photographer Olle Nilsson has a passion for capturing the beauty of nature and wild animals, predominantly in the picturesque southern Swedish countryside where he resides. Alongside his pro camera kit, Olle appreciated the benefits the Xperia 1 VI brings for photographing nature in what he calls his ‘backyard’. “The range of lenses the Xperia 1 VI offers gives me the opportunity to capture whatever I have in front of me in a great way.”

Olle is particularly enthusiastic about the new telephoto lens and was eager to capture fairly close-up subjects with the telephoto zoom, aiming to achieve a beautiful soft focus effect in the background thanks to the new bokeh mode.

“I’m a big fan of the extended reach. The extra 50mm range makes a big difference when you need to get closer to your subject.” The lens options and versatility make it the perfect smartphone camera for capturing photos of birds, one of Olle’s passions.

After being blown away with the quality of Xperia 1 V’s bokeh mode last year, Olle is delighted that bokeh shooting is now extended to be available on 24mm, 48mm, 85mm and 170mm on Xperia 1 VI.

The quality of the background blur looks very real and like everything from the cutout to the amount of blur is looking very natural, this is the best bokeh mode I’ve ever tried on a phone.”

The Tele Macro mode has come to be one of my favourite features of the new Xperia. The looks of the photos are something different thanks to the telephoto lens. And I love that I can back out a bit, adjust focus and snap the photo. This gives me the possibility to capture the whole flower with a blurry background, instead of just being super close with a wide-angle lens like other phones.”

What sets the Xperia 1 VI apart from other phones is that it lets me fully utilise my creativity and photography skills without being overshadowed by automatic settings. I have complete control over my photos if I want to, and I absolutely love that.”
