NHS Trust Hospital utilises Sony BRAVIA Professional Displays to make patient wards a more comfortable experience
Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital has opted to use Sony’s BRAVIA BZ30L series in their newest purpose-built unit so that patients can watch television in beautiful quality, promoting a sense of home comfort.
Weybridge, UK, 14th July – Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital, an NHS Trust that provides essential healthcare needs to the community, has chosen Sony’s BRAVIA 4K Professional Displays for their brand-new purpose-built patient unit, which has facilities for emergencies, child assessments and acute medical care. This unit has been built with high-quality in mind throughout, with the goal of making patient stays as comfortable as possible.
High-quality matters
In any context, image quality is an important factor when it comes to what makes a good display, but in this installation it was even more vital. The hope was that by installing a comprehensive AV solution in the new unit, patients of Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital would be able to view the same content as they would usually watch at home, providing a sense of familiarity and hopefully comfort during checkups and procedures. Sony’s powerful 4K HDR Processor X1 and TRILUMINOS™ technology that is packed into the BZ30L professional display allows for patients to view these familiar shows in fine detail, ensuring they can have the ultimate viewing experience when visiting the hospital.
Sony’s BRAVIA Professional Displays were used in lieu of a typical consumer display due to the various features that make them more appropriate for a professional environment. For example, The IPTV capability that the BZ30L offers makes it a great alternative to cable television. Still offering the live and on-demand content viewers can expect from cable, but with the additional ability to completely tailor-make the viewing experience. This meant the Hospital was able to handpick what content would be available to watch and change it depending on if it was an adult or child ward.
“The superior image-quality offered by BRAVIA Professional Displays combined with features that make them ideal for rooms with multiple viewers made Sony the ideal candidate for this new unit” commented Kirsty Edmondson-Jones, Director of Infrastructure at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital Trust. “Having these displays in both adult and child wards means patients will be able to experience a sense of home comfort, watching familiar shows in fine detail”.
A more comfortable experience for all
The hospital was committed to making this new patient unit a comfortable and calm environment, with the hopes of minimising the stress and anxiety that can often come with hospital visits. To achieve this on an audio-visual front, AV integrator AVworx was chosen to procure and install displays that would allow for multiple patients to have a pleasant viewing experience across the whole unit. To achieve this, AVworx opted for the BZ30L series. Offering a comprehensive number of screen sizes; from 43” to 98”, AVworx was able to utilise the space in the patient unit to its full capacity. Additionally, the displays extra-wide viewing angle in combination with its high nit screen brightness means that anyone in the ward, regardless of where they are situated, can enjoy clear and bright images.
“We are beyond honoured that Sony’s BRAVIA Professional Displays are now being utilised at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital, with the goal of improving the comfort of patients” commented Adam Dover, Senior Trade and Segment Marketing Manager for Sony Europe. “We strive to offer the highest-quality displays, and knowing the real-world benefit they can have, we don’t intend to slow down this mission”.
