Basingstoke, April 17th, 2016: TV2 Denmark, a leading national Danish TV broadcaster, has chosen Sony to supply new cameras for ENG production after a public tender launched in January 2016. Sony’s technology will be implemented in mid-April as part of TV2’s migration to HD.

TV2 Denmark first aired on October 1, 1988 and less than three years later it became the largest TV channel in Denmark. TV2’s range of programs includes news, documentaries, lifestyle, entertainment, sports, fiction, current affairs, morning television and children’s programming. TV2 Denmark has approximately 1000 employees located in Odense and the capital Copenhagen.
​ Earlier this year TV2 Denmark invited companies to participate in a tender for cameras for ENG production. The challenge was to replace TV2’s existing SD ENG and VJ cameras with HD cameras to optimize production workflow and hence bring further efficiencies like total cost of ownership and technical value. Further, the tender included the call for equipment like ENG cameras and viewfinders, VJ cameras, recording media and media readers.

Sony Professional Europe has a long and solid broadcast heritage delivering technology to some of the leading broadcasters globally. As a solution to TV2’s HD upgrade, Sony chose to propose products based around its well-established family of XDCAM acquisition and production products,in conjunction with the company’s latest solution developments for live and file based field control and contribution. Mid-February this year, Sony was awarded the contract and will start delivering mid-April.
