Sony Professional delivers cameras for TV4’s new show ”Spring!”

Amsterdam, September 11th 2015: TV4's new TV show “Spring!” (Run!), produced by Elk Production, is now in full swing. The show is streamed live on TV4 Play and broadcasted from across Sweden for eight intensive weeks, during which Swedish couples are to hide from celebrities hunting them. Sony Professional is the official supplier of all film cameras for the production.

Elk Production, producer of successful TV shows like Berg & Meltzer, Parneviks, Ninja Warriors and Cleaning Masters, are now filming TV4's new initiative “Spring”. Six different teams across the country are filmed eight hours a day and all material is streamed live on TV4 Play.

Elk Production uses a total of 12 Sony cameras on the show. Sony’s PMW-200 is being used by the production team in the field. It was chosen as it was lightweight, has a simple menu system and fast boot and it delivers Full HD, resolution 1920x1080 pixels. Studio broadcasts are filmed primarily on Sony’s HDC-2500 and supported with the BRC-H900 cameras. All models have been selected by media center HD Resources (HDR) for the specific production and the needs of the photographers.

“We're shooting for about 250 hours a week. The hunt is streamed live on TV4 Play as well as on multiple platforms. In addition to this, the production team narrows down all the material for a daily round-up programme, broadcasted on TV4. We also pull together highlights for the Saturday show. This technically extensive production of course puts high demands on the technology we use,” says Jessica Taube, Project Manager at Elk Production.

“Before the production started, we ran tests on different cameras recommended by HDR and realized we needed cameras that are easy to use, both in terms of weight and functionality. Sony's PMW-200 cameras were the best option, according to our photographers. Because we are outdoors and autumn is approaching we wanted a robust camera that can handle both rain and bumps. For that purpose, the Sony camera was perfect,” adds Jessica Taube. “Material-wise, we are very satisfied so far. The technology itself plays just as we want, both in terms of hardware and software.”

Production will continue for eight weeks. The show is currently in its fourth week and the performance of the cameras are exceeding expectations.
