Sony appoints strategic media industry expert to lead European Professional AV & Media solutions marketing team

New appointment to bring industry experience and strategy for Sony AV & Media portfolio

BASINGSTOKE, UK, 2 March 2015: Sony Professional Europe has today announced the appointment of Michael Harrit as its new Head of Marketing for AV & Media Solutions. Drawing on extensive experience within the broadcast and media industries, Harrit will have overall responsibility for Sony Professional’s marketing strategy for that sector, ensuring it reflects the industry’s priorities and changes and serves the organisation’s overall business goals.

Harrit will take over the position from Olivier Bovis, who will be moving to a new role as Director of Sales for Sony Professional Europe. Based in the UK, Harrit will harness in-depth, international experience in strategic planning and embracing new technologies, using insight gained from roles in the Danish Broadcasting Corporation and multimedia consultancy Multi Media Consulting A/S within Niras A/S.

Working to balance a high-level overview with driving day-to-day activity, Harrit will oversee the clear communication of Sony’s strategy as the company continues to develop market-leading solutions which address the needs of media organisations of all sizes. With over 20 years’ experience in broadcast, media, and IT, his deep expertise in the industry’s solutions and services will be invaluable as he brings a visionary outlook and strategic acumen to enhance the business and operational needs of media companies.

Harrit joins Sony from a position as acting director of technology for a new media centre in Moscow, as well as an executive advisor to the board of one of Russia’s largest commercial TV station.
