How to turn captions on or off when watching Internet videos from YouTube

    The captions on YouTube is available for the following conditions:

    • Videos with captions added by the owner.
    • Videos that use YouTube's automatic caption feature.

    Enable Captions on Your Computer or Mobile Device

    Follow the instructions according to your device type.

    • Enable captions

      • Click on the CC icon to enable the captions.
        • The icon changes to CC enabled icon.
        • Click on the CC enabled icon icon again to disable it.
           
      • Select video content on YouTube to start playing
        • You'll see the CC icon if captions is available on the screen.

      • Select caption language
        1. Click the Settings icon.

        2. Select Subtitles/CC.
        3. Choose your preferred language.
          • If your language is not on the list:
            1. Click Auto-translate.
            2. Select your preferred language.
              • This option translates the captions using the Google™ Translate feature.
    • Android mobile device
    • iPhone and iPad mobile device
