How to restart (reset) a Google™ or Android TV™

    Before you start

Your BRAVIA TV runs the Android OS, which is also used in many smartphones and tablets. As with these devices, restarting your TV is an effective method to resolve some issues such as the picture does not appearonly sound is being outputthe remote control does not work, or the App is extremely slow.

    Notes:

Step 1: Restart your TV using the remote control

Perform the following steps to restart the TV:

    1. Point the remote control at the illumination LED on the front side of the TV. Then, press and hold the POWER button of the remote control for about 5 seconds until a Power off message appears.
Note: Depending on the model and OS, the Cancel or Restart screen may appear after pressing the POWER button on the remote control for 3 seconds or longer. In that case, you can also select Restart to restart the TV.

    3. The TV restart procedure is complete.
Check to see if your issue has been resolved.

    Notes:

    • If an external USB hard disc is connected to your TV, disconnect the USB cable from the TV before restarting.
    • If your TV is turned off, turn it on first before restarting the TV.

Step 2: Unplug the AC power cord (mains lead)

If you unplug and plug in the power cable, it may have the same effect as the reset steps above. If the situation doesn't change after pressing the POWER button on the remote control, try the steps below.

Notes: If you leave the TV with the power cord (mains lead) disconnected, the electricity that remains in the TV will be discharged. As a result, unnecessary data and error information in the memory will return to their defaults, which should allow you to use the TV again normally.

    1. Turn off the TV.
Note: The location of the power button on the TV varies by model. It is commonly found on the center underside of the TV, or on the left or right backside. For details, refer to your TV manual.
    2. Unplug the TV power cord (mains lead) from the electrical outlet.
    3. Press the POWER button on the TV, and release it.
    4. Let the TV remain without power for 30 seconds.
    5. Plug the power cord (mains lead) back into the electrical outlet.

If the issue is not resolved, please try a factory data reset.
