Answers to common questions about INZONE headphones

Sound

What is the difference between 360RA virtualizer and 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming?    

The underlying virtualizer technology is the same, but INZONE headsets are optimized for games. The speaker location of the sound source differs from that of 360 Reality Audio.

Does the microphone pick up external noises?

The microphone is equipped to reduce external sounds for clear and uninterrupted voice communication.

Is the INZONE headset microphone better than the microphones on Sony's wireless headsets without a boom microphone?

Yes, generally speaking, the proximity of the microphone on the INZONE headset helps pick up speech more effectively.

Do INZONE headsets use DSEE sound? 

No, DSEE/Hi-Res is not supported. 

Is the sound optimized for PS5?

Yes, GH-H/M/L allow you to enjoy game sounds using the PS5's TEMPEST 3D Audio Tech to structure sound in a 3D format.

What changes can I expect after personalizing sound based on ear shape?

Depending on your ear shape, there are individual differences in the acoustic characteristics from the sound source to the eardrum. The characteristics are estimated from the ear image, and the individual differences are corrected to optimize hearing. 

What is the sound quality like when playing games other than FPS / TPS?   

In addition to localization accuracy and fine sound expression, it is also excellent in spacious and rich spatial expression. Therefore, even in genres such as RPGs, you enjoy realistic sounds. Additionally, the equalizer is adjustable using the PC software INZONE Hub, which allows you to adjust the sound quality to your liking, for example, by further emphasizing the bass.

How many Sound profiles can I create?  

You may create up to 256 sound profiles.

Connectivity and Compatibility

Can I connect and use the headset on a PC without a USB adapter?

Yes, an analogue connection with the headset's cable is possible without a USB audio box. However, the PC software INZONE Hub won't recognize the headset, and INZONE Hub functions, including spatial sound, won't work.

Will Bluetooth support 2-device multipoint?

No, a multipoint connection for Bluetooth is not supported. But since it supports simultaneous Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless connection, it is possible to connect two devices (PC + PS5) simultaneously.

Can I use the headset if I connect the USB adapter to the PS5 main unit? Is Tempest effective in that case?

No, the PS5 USB adapter main unit connection is not supported. Tempest 3D audio is effective even when connected via an analogue cable.

Can I connect the headset using the cable to my smartphone?

Yes, if you have a 3.5mm jack on your smartphone, you can connect it and hear sound. However, if the audio jack does not support the CTIA standard, the microphone will not work (you will only hear sound).

Is it possible to connect 2.4GHz and Bluetooth at the same time?

Yes, the headset supports a simultaneous connection of 2.4GHz wireless and BT for call/voice chat on a smartphone during gaming. 

Does the headset connect wirelessly to a BRAVIA TV using the dongle in the USB port?    

This is not possible.

What Bluetooth version does the headset run? Does it support 5.2?

The headset runs Bluetooth version 5.0. LE Audio isn't supported.

Functionality

Does the headset support 3D audio formats on PC (Dolby, DTS, THX, etc.) and PS5 Tempest 3D audio?

PC 3D audio formats (Dolby / DST / THX, etc.) are not supported. Tempest 3D is compatible, allowing you to enjoy 3D game sounds, even via an analogue wired connection to a controller.

How do you switch the Ambient Sound function?   

Switch between ambient sounds using the physical button on the headset or on the INZONE Hub.

Why does the USB dongle have a PS5 / PC switch? 

We added this feature because the audio output specifications on a PS5 and PC are different, so selecting the corresponding platform is important.

Is it possible to save and download preset information online like G HUB (Logitech) and Razer Synapse?

On the INZONE Hub, a function allows you to save the setting profile for each monitor/headset. You can name and save the sound settings (EQ parameters, DRC settings, stereophonic settings) for headsets. A new folder is created on the PC for the profile and saved. Copy the file to transfer the sound settings to a new PC.

I understand that a Mac / XBOX is not supported, but what happens when I connect it?    

The headset is supported on a Mac, however, INZONE Hub is incompatible with Mac. Functions such as spatial sound won't work. Since Xbox is not supported, there is no sound. However, you'll hear sound when connecting the headset using a GH-L analogue wired connection.

Is Spatial Sound / Spatial sound personalization available only when a USB transceiver is plugged into a PC containing the INZONE HUB?    

Yes.

Can I use the Spatial sound personalization function on multiple PCs by installing and setting up INZONE HUB on each PC?

Yes. You can copy the settings included in the Sound profile (EQ parameters, DRC, spatial sound On / Off) by sharing the file between multiple PCs. Personalization requires only one measurement if you sign in with the same account.

General

How do you take images of your ear for personal optimization using HRTF with the PC APP? Do I need a web camera, or can I use a smartphone?

Please use a smartphone camera to take photos. You may use the 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer currently released for Walkman.

What are the benefits of the Ambient Sound Mode function for gamers?    

Users are always aware of external noises around them, such as voices, incoming calls, and door knocks, while concentrating on their game.

Can I replace ear pads?    

Please get in touch with Sony customer support. We're happy to offer repairs, headset replacements, or replacement ear pads. Note: Support levels may vary across regions. 

Can I customize the LED light colour?

This is not possible.
