Windows 8 - What is Fast Startup and how can I configure it

What is Fast Startup and how can I configure it

Fast startup is a setting that helps your PC start up faster after shutdown.  Windows does this by saving system info to a file upon shutdown.  When you start your PC again, Windows uses that system info to resume your PC instead of restarting it.

    1. Launch Charms by placing the cursor to the top right hand or bottom left hand corner on the desktop
    2. Select “Settings”
    3. Select “Control Panel”
    4. Select “System and Security”
    5. Select “Power Options”
    6. Select “Choose what the power buttons do”
    7. Confirm that there is a checkmark next to “Turn on fast startup (recommended)
Place a checkmark in this field if it is unchecked and select “Save changes”
