How to set up multiple monitors with Windows 8
Connect the external monitor to your Personal Computer via VGA or HDMI cable.Note: some notebooks may not have a HDMI port. Please refer to the user guide.
Prefered option:
Press Windows+P or Fn+F7 to toggle between available modes:
- PC screen only : the main display will only display content
- Duplicate: both display will display the same content. Please note that both display needs be able to support the same resolution to display the content correctly.
- Extend: the secondary monitor will be an extention for the main display
- Second screen only : the secondary display will only display content
Alternative Option 1
- Display the Charms menu by placing the cursor on the top right hand corner or bottom right hand corner
- Select “Devices”
- Select “Second screen”
- Select from the following options:
- PC screen only : the main display will only display content
- Duplicate: both display will display content
- Extend: the secondary monitor will be an extention for the main display
- Second screen only : the secondary display will only display content
Alternative Option 2
- Connect the external monitor to your Personal Computer via VGA or HDMI cable
Note: some notebooks may not have a HDMI port. Please refer to the user guide - Right click on the desktop
- Select “Screen resolution”
- Click on the drop down menu within “Multiple displays” and select from the following options:
- Duplicate these displays: both displays will display content
- Extend these displays : the secondary monitor will be extend from the main display
- Show desktop only on 1 : display #1 will on display content
- Show desktop only on 2 : display #2 will only display content
- Resolution and orientation can also be adjusted
- Click “Apply” and then “OK”
