How to solve the “Failed to start PVR. Disc is not ready" error

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check Applicable Products and Categories for details.

    If you get the error "Failed to start PVR. Disc is not ready", you may have registered the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for internal storage, or the HDD is formatted with another TV. However, the applicable models of this article do not require you to format the HDD for recording. You can connect your HDD to any USB port, select your preferred Digital TV channel and press the REC button on the remote to start recording. 

    If the HDD is formatted to the internal storage of the TV

    1. Use   the Quick Settings button (gear icon) on your remote and navigate to Device preferences → Storage  → select the connected HDD
    2. Select Delete and format as removable storage
    3. Select Back up apps 
    4. Select Migrate data to different storage
    5. Select Internal storage (data is moved) 
    6. After the apps are moved, select Format 
    7. After the OK message, you can go to your preferred Digital TV channel and press the REC button on the remote to start recording. 

    How to use the TV's Time Shift function

    1. Use the Quick Settings button (gear icon) on your remote
    2. Press the Arrow down button 
    3. Navigate to the right and select Time shift mode 
    4. Set Time Shift ON if it's not already on 
    5. Go to your preferred Digital TV channel
    6. Press the Pause button on your remote 
    7. Select Auto at Disc Setup. The Time Shift files will be created, and HDD speed tested 
    8. After the Completed message go back to the digital TV channel and press the Pause button to start the time shift

    How to format your HDD with your computer

    If the HDD is formatted with another TV, you can format the HDD with your computer. 

    1. Connect your HDD to a Windows computer. 
    2. Type Manage in the Windows search box and select Computer Management
    3. Select Disc Management (under Storage)
    4. Select the connected HDD you want to format. You can check this by disconnecting the HDD and connecting it again. 
    5. Click the disc and then right-click and select Delete Volume. Do this for all partitions. Once it's finished, you will get an Unallocated message for the Disc
    6. Click the disc and then right-click and select New Simple Volume
    7. The Wizard will open and follow all the steps. Keep all the default values and format to NTFC. 
    8.  After receiving the Healthy (Basic disc partition) message, the HDD format is recognisable by your TV
    9. Connect the HDD to any TV USB port
    10. Press REC button of the remote to start rec or set timer recordings
