Information about the Android™ 10 software update for 2018 to 2020 Android TV™ models
IMPORTANT: This article only applies to specific products and/or operating systems. Please check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article.
A major software update is scheduled to begin around the end of November 2023 for your Android TV model. This article explains the new and enhanced features and other changes this update will introduce.
Menu and Interface change
Settings menu changes
After the update, the Settings menus will be located on the left side of the screen, and the details of the selected content will be displayed on the right side.
In addition, some of the setting names and locations will be changed. For example, after the update, Device Preferences will be called System.
New & Enhanced Features
Living Decor
Living Decor is a function that allows your TV to be used as a photo frame, clock, or to look like a part of an interior. Living Decor can be launched from the apps list.
Timers & Clock
Alarms are added to the timer functions and can display a clock on the television screen. Timers & Clock can be launched from the apps list.
Note: For OLED models, in order to reduce image retention, the clock cannot be displayed all the time.
Easy channel and USB HDD registration
- Easy channel registration of favourites and recordings
- On the remote control and from the TV menu, use the up arrow button to easily register your favourite channels or start recording a channel.
- Enabled adding Most watched in the TV menu and Guide
A Most Watched option will be added to the TV menu and Guide, which will allow you to select the channel and display the program list for the channel.
Note: It will take a certain period of time for the Most watched to be added.
- On the remote control and from the TV menu, use the up arrow button to easily register your favourite channels or start recording a channel.
- Easy USB HDD registration
After the update, you can register a USB HDD that was used by another television or device for recording without first formatting it on a computer.
LED indicator changes to Voice Detection Status
The "LED indicator settings change to the more comprehensive Voice detection status. You can also easily turn the Voice Function LED light on or off.
- For TVs with a built-in MIC: The current Built-in MIC LED setting under the LED indicator is changed to Voice detection status.
The menu path is as follows: Settings → System → LED indicator → Voice detection status
For only XH95 (55, 65, 75) and ZH8 series: After the update, you can turn off the Voice Function LED by disabling Voice detection status.

Enabled Sound Bar or Home Theater System control from your TV (only for HT-A7000/A5000/A3000/A9)
If you have a Sound Bar (HT-A7000, HT-A5000, or HT-A3000) or Home Theater System (HT-A9), you will be able to use the following features:
- You can easily set the Wi-Fi settings for the Sound Bar (the Wi-Fi settings for the Sound Bar are copied from your TV, so you don't have to set them yourself).
- The setting items for HT-A7000/A5000/A9 will be displayed from Quick Settings, and you can change the settings of the Sound Bar from the UI of the TV.
- Software update notifications for HT-A7000/A5000/A3000/A9 will appear on the TV screen.
Added TV Control with Smart Speakers app
TV Control Setup with the Amazon Alexa app will be replaced with TV Control with Smart Speakers app.
- If you have already used the TV Control Setup with the Amazon Alexa app to control the TV: you will still be able to use it, and it will coexist with the newly added TV Control with Smart Speakers app.
- If you want to link your TV to your Amazon Alexa for the first time: please use the TV Control with Smart Speakers app after the update.
Note: Availability of this function may vary depending on the country or region.
Functionalities that will be removed
- Restricted profile function
The Restricted profile (Device Preferences → Security & restrictions) will not be supported after the update.
You can use the Parental controls function to safely enjoy apps and video streaming services.
- BRAVIA Sync function
After the update, the Sync Menu will no longer be shown from Quick Settings. To operate BRAVIA Sync-compatible devices from the TV, on the remote control, use the INPUT selectbutton to select the device you want to operate.
- Reduction of supported Help Guide languages:
- Help Guides in Catalan, Bosnian, and Kazakh will no longer be supported. After the update, refer to Help Guide in English or other languages.
