What does the INPUT
button do?
The INPUT button tells your TV what it should show on the screen.
Think of your TV as having multiple doors:
- One door leads to live TV
- One door shows your TV box from your cable or internet provider
- One door leads to a game console
- One door leads to a Blu-ray player
- One door leads to a USB stick
The INPUT button lets you choose which door to open.
The button does not always say “INPUT” exactly. Depending on the remote, it may be labeled as:
- INPUT
- SOURCE
- TV/AV
- a box with an arrow going into it (
)
What is an “input source”?
An input source is where the picture and sound come from.
Common input sources include:
- TV – regular live TV channels
- HDMI 1 / HDMI 2 / HDMI 3 – devices connected with an HDMI cable.
(for example: a TV box from your cable or internet provider (set-top box), PlayStation, Blu-ray player, soundbar) - USB – a USB memory stick or hard drive
- Apps – streaming apps such as Netflix or YouTube (depending on your TV)
If you normally watch channels using a TV box, you must select its HDMI input, not “TV”.
How to switch the input source (step by step)
- Take your TV remote control
- Press the INPUT button. This button may also be labeled SOURCE or show an icon like a rectangle with an arrow.
The INPUT button is safe to press. It does not change settings and cannot break the TV. - An Input Source menu appears on the screen
- Use the arrow buttons on the remote to move up or down
- Highlight the input you want
- Press OK (or Enter) to confirm
The TV will immediately switch to the selected input.
Example: “I want to watch TV using my TV box”
- Press INPUT
- Select HDMI 1, HDMI 2, or HDMI 3
- Press OK
- The TV box screen appears
If nothing appears, this is normal.
Simply try the next HDMI input until the picture appears.
If you do not see your device
- Make sure the device (TV box, console, player) is turned on
- Check that the HDMI cable is firmly connected
- Try selecting a different HDMI input
- If using USB, make sure the USB device is inserted correctly
