Why is Location information necessary for Sony's Android TV?
Services offered by Google (as well as some third-party applications) use location information to optimise their services for each country. Depending on the application, if you do not enable a Location, the app may not work properly.
If disabling the Location setting causes issues, follow the steps below to turn on Location:
- Set the Location status to On or Use Wi-Fi to estimate location.
- Press the HOME button on the remote control.
- Select Location in the Personal category.
- Select Location status and set to On or Use Wi-Fi to estimate location.
- Set Location in Restricted Profile to True.
* This step is only necessary if you are using a Restricted Profile.- Press the HOME button on the remote control.
- Select Security & restrictions in the Personal category.
- Select Restricted Profile.
- Select Settings.
- Select Allowed apps.
- Select Settings.
- Select Location and set to True.
For further information, visit the Android TV Help page, then search Android TV location
NOTE: The TV does not have a GPS module, but location information can be estimated from Wi-Fi or network information.
