Why is Location information necessary for Sony's Android TV?

Services offered by Google (as well as some third-party applications) use location information to optimise their services for each country. Depending on the application, if you do not enable a Location, the app may not work properly.

If disabling the Location setting causes issues, follow the steps below to turn on Location:

    1. Set the Location status to On or Use Wi-Fi to estimate location.
      1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
      2. Select Location in the Personal category.
      3. Select Location status and set to On or Use Wi-Fi to estimate location.
    2. Set Location in Restricted Profile to True.
      * This step is only necessary if you are using a Restricted Profile.
      1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
      2. Select Security & restrictions in the Personal category.
      3. Select Restricted Profile.
      4. Select Settings.
      5. Select Allowed apps.
      6. Select Settings.
      7. Select Location and set to True.

NOTE: The TV does not have a GPS module, but location information can be estimated from Wi-Fi or network information.
