What to do if you can't make a contactless payment
Are you having trouble accessing your virtual Wallet, or making an NFC payment via your smartphone?
If yes, our troubleshooting guide may be able to help.
Before you start
Make sure your smartphone is NFC-compatible:
- Look for the Near Field Communication (NFC) logo
on your smartphone.
- The logo can usually be found on the back of your phone.
How to make a contactless payment
Step 1: Set up your payment method
If your phone is NFC-compatible, you can proceed with the steps below:
- Swipe down to expand the phone menu.
- Tap Wallet.
You can now add a payment card to your wallet for NFC purchases. - Tap Add payment card to add your debit or credit card details.
Note: Tap Add to Wallet to view your payment card(s), transit passes, loyalty cards, gift cards, and QR codes or barcodes.
Step 2: Tap the NFC area of the payment terminal
Once your payment card details have been saved, you can start using your NFC-capable smartphone to make contactless payments.
Simply touch your smartphone onto the N marked area on the top of the payment terminal.
Note: The payment terminal may not recognise your smartphone if you touch the wrong area or tap the terminal too quickly. In addition, it's best to remove your phone case or cover to avoid disrupting the NFC connection.
