Can I use Bluetooth headphones, speakers, and soundbars with my Android TV or Google TV?

Yes, connecting a Bluetooth audio device such as headphones, speakers, or sound bars is possible if your Google TV or Android TV supports the Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP).
Why is the A2DP Bluetooth profile important?
Some TVs have Bluetooth, but it's used for the remote control. It's a different Bluetooth profile that can't transmit Audio.
How do I know my Sony TV supports A2DP?
- You can check the specifications.
- You can check if your TV has a particular setting: A/V sync.
How to check the A2DP profile in the specifications
You can check the applicable TV models on our support website by going to the Specifications section of your product page.
A2DP is displayed in the Bluetooth profile section if your model can use Bluetooth headphones.
How to check the A/V sync setting
You can also check the applicable TV models by confirming whether A/V sync is available on the TV Settings menu. If A/V sync is available, your TV model supports A2DP and can use Bluetooth audio devices:
- If your remote control has a
(Quick Settings) button, press the
Settings → Display & Sound → Audio output → Check if A/V sync is available.
- If your remote control has no (Quick Settings) button, press the HOME button → and Select
- Select Display & Sound → Audio output → Check if A/V sync is available.
- Select Sound → Check if A/V sync is in the item.
What if my TV does not support A2DP Bluetooth?
You can always invest in a third-party Bluetooth dongle or Bluetooth audio transmitter. This device will allow you to set up a Bluetooth connection between your TV and audio device.

- We do not guarantee operation with all Bluetooth audio devices. The products listed here have been confirmed. If your audio product supports the A2DP profile, it should be able to connect with an A2DP-supporting TV.
- Your TV generates the sound, and the audio device provides output. Note that your phone will not be able to output TV audio.

- Make sure your TV and other audio device have the latest software update.
- Only one Bluetooth audio device can be connected to the TV simultaneously. It is possible to connect Bluetooth devices other than the Bluetooth audio device at the same time.
- The codec used when transmitting the Bluetooth audio device is SBC (Sub-Band Coding) (LDAC, AAC, aptX, eSBC, etc. are not supported.)
- Depending on the TV app used, or Bluetooth audio device connected, some app operations performed from the Bluetooth audio device may not work. In such cases, use the TV remote control to operate the app.
