How do I change the language and country settings of my TV?

You can change the language of your TV in the Settings menu (this may be called System Settings on some models).

    Android TV/Google TV:

    1. Press the Home button on your remote.
    2. Go to Settings, or use the Quick Settings  (spanner or gear) buttons to access the settings.
    3. Select Device Preferences or System (depending on your menu options).
    4. Choose Language.
    5. Select your preferred language.

    Non-Android TV:

    1. Press the Home button on your remote.
    2. Go to Settings.
    3. Choose Language.
    4. Select your preferred language.

What happens when I change the TV language?

A language change affects the TV menu interface and voice recognition language (if your TV has the voice recognition feature).

What doesn’t change when I update the TV language?

    • App languages:
      • Streaming apps (like Netflix, YouTube, or Disney+) sometimes have their own language settings, so their menus and subtitles may stay in the default language.
    • Audio & subtitles:
      • Changing the TV language does not automatically switch movie or show languages. You’ll need to adjust these in the app or playback settings.
    • Broadcast or cable content:
      • TV channels will remain in their original language unless they offer multiple language options.

Can I change the country of my TV after setup?

During the initial setup, you choose the language and country. Although you can change the language in the TV settings menu, changing the country requires a Factory reset, which requires you to go through the initial setup process again. The factory reset procedure is at the bottom of this article.

      • Your country selection might affect some regional TV features (such as broadcast settings and channel tuners) but does not affect country-specific content.
      • Some apps may disappear, as some are region or country-specific.

When should you change the country of your TV?

Changing your TV’s country setting is useful when:

      1. You’ve moved to a new country and need access to local apps and services.
      2. The wrong country was selected during the initial setup.

Does changing my TV country allow me to watch different streaming shows?

Changing your TV’s country setting will not unlock different streaming content.

Streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, and YouTube determine what content you can access based on your IP address (which is like your internet home address), not the country set on your TV.

      This means:

      • Your physical location matters: Streaming services check your internet connection’s location (IP address) to decide what content is available.
      • Your account region matters: Some services may still be linked to the country where your account was created.
      • TV settings don’t override app settings:  Even if you change your TV’s country, the streaming apps will still follow their own location rules.

How do I perform a factory reset?

To change your country setting and go through the initial setup, you’ll need to reset your TV. Here’s how:

      1. On the remote control, press the (spanner or gearQuick SettingsHOME, or ACTION MENU button.
      2. Select  Settings.
      3. The following steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        1. Select System → About → Reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes.
        2. Select Device Preferences → Reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes.
        3. Select Storage & reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes.
      4. The factory reset may take a few minutes. Once it’s complete, the TV will start the initial setup.
