How to add or remove a Google account on a Sony's Google TV™ or Android TV™
Managing your Google™ account on Sony's Android TV™ or Google TV™ is easy, whether you're adding a new profile or removing an existing one. This guide provides step-by-step instructions and troubleshooting tips so everyone can access their favorite apps and services.

Before you start
- Make sure your TV is connected to the internet so you can sign in with your Google account.
- For a Wi-Fi® connection:

- For a Wi-Fi® connection:
- You'll also need a Google account and password. If you don't have one yet, create one anytime at Create a Google Account
.
- For Android™ 7.0 or later: Supports multiple Google accounts.
- For Android 6.0 or earlier: Only one Google account can be used at a time. To switch accounts, you'll need to remove the current account before adding another. See For Android 6.0 or earlier.
Menu names or screen layouts may vary depending on your TV model and software version. For model-specific instructions, refer to your TV's Help Guide .
Add a Google account
If you're signing in for the first time or want to add another account, follow these steps.
- Open Settings
Press the Quick Settings (or
) or HOME button on the TV remote, then select
Settings.
- Go to Accounts
Depending on your TV’s software version, the menu labels may differ slightly. Choose the option that most closely matches your TV menu.- Select Accounts & Sign In → Add account → Sign In.
- Select Accounts & Sign In → Add another account → Google.
- Select Accounts & Sign In → Add account → Google.
- Select Add account.
- Enter your email
Enter the email address, then select NEXT.
Note: Use the Arrow buttons on the remote control to use the on-screen keyboard and press the enter button to select characters.
- Enter your password
Enter the Password, then select NEXT to complete sign-in.
After you have successfully signed in, your Google Account will appear in the Accounts list.
When you have multiple Google accounts added to your TV, different members of your household can access their own streaming apps, personalized recommendations, and services tied to their Google profiles.
Remove a Google account
You can remove a Google account from your TV at any time.
- Open Settings
Press the Quick Settings (or
) or HOME button on the TV remote, then select
Settings.
- Select Accounts
Select Accounts & Sign in.
- Choose the account to remove
- If multiple accounts are signed in:
The selected account is removed, and you can continue using the TV with the remaining account(s). - If only one account is signed in:
Removing it may require the TV to reset to factory default settings, which can delete apps and personal settings. You must either:- Add a new Google account first, or
- Proceed with the factory reset.
- If multiple accounts are signed in:
- Remove the account
- Select Remove.
- If prompted, select Remove and reset device.
- After the reset completes, follow the on-screen instructions to:
- Set up Google TV (sign in with a different Google account), or
- Set up basic TV (no Google account).
For Android 6.0 or earlier
To register a different account, delete the registration information for your current account, and then add a different account.
- Delete the registration information for your current account
- Press the HOME button on the remote control.
- Select Settings.
- Select Google in the Personal category.
- Select Remove account.
- Select OK.
- Register a different Google account
- Press the HOME button on the remote control.
- Select Settings.
- Select Add account in the Personal category.
- Select SIGN IN.
Troubleshooting tips
If you're having trouble adding or removing a Google account on your TV, try these solutions.
I can't sign in to my Google account
- Make sure your TV is connected to the internet.
- Check that you’re entering the correct email address and password.
- If you use 2-step verification, complete the verification prompt on your phone or computer.
- Restart your TV and try again.
- If the issue continues, try signing in on another device to confirm the account works.
I don't see the "Accounts & Sign In" or "Add account" option
- Menu names may differ by TV model and software version.
- Look for similar options such as Accounts, Users & Accounts, or Add another account.
- Restart your TV and try again.
- If the menu still doesn't appear, check your TV's Help Guide for model-specific instructions.
I can't remove a Google account
- Make sure you select the correct account under Accounts & Sign In.
- Restart your TV and try again.
- If it’s the only account signed in, you’ll need to sign in with a new Google account or use Basic TV mode.
