Security Notice for the LLS-201 Personal Content Station
Dear Customers,
The LLS-201 Personal Content Station, released in June 2013, uses Wi-Fi Protected Access II (WPA2) as the wireless network encryption standard.
Based on recent industry reports, this technology has been discovered to have the following vulnerabilities. (CERT Vulnerability Notes Database)
To ensure security and protect your devices against malicious attackers utilizing these vulnerabilities, please follow the instructions as described below:
- Use a Direct Connection with Your Devices
When you connect the LLS-201 to your smartphone or tablet, use a direct wireless connection (Wi-Fi Direct mode) without using a wireless LAN access point.
- Set up a password
Set up a password for your LLS-201 according to the details in the Help Guide (please see the link below).
If you give your password to others for the purpose of sharing files, we highly recommend that you change your password immediately afterwards.
- Choose a secure place during the Wireless LAN Connection
If you connect the LLS-201 with your smartphone or tablet through a wireless LAN access point, choose a secure place (such as within your home) that is difficult for others to access your wireless network connection.
- Avoid Using Public Wireless LAN Services
Some public LAN services are not sufficiently secure and allow an unspecified number of users to connect. For the sake of security, we highly recommend that you avoid connections from your LLS-201 to public wireless LAN services.
