I can't connect my Xperia smartphone to my home Wi-Fi network

Issue: Your Xperia smartphone cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network or has no internet access
    Applies to: Xperia smartphones
Likely causes: Incorrect network details, temporary connection issues, weak signal, or router configuration
Resolution: Check if Wi-Fi is turned on and connected correctly, restart your devices, and improve signal strength. If the issue continues, reconnect to the network or complete any required login steps.

Step 1: check if Wi-Fi is turned on

    1. Go to SettingsNetwork & InternetWi-Fi
    2. Check the Wi-Fi switch:
      • If the switch is ON (blue/active) → Wi-Fi is turned on
You should see a list of available networks and a Wi-Fi icon in the status bar
      • If the switch is OFF (grey/inactive) → Tap it to turn Wi-Fi on
    3. Turn Wi-Fi off and on again to refresh the connection

Step 2: check if you are connected to the correct Wi-Fi network

    1. Check your network status:
      • If Connected appears → Your device is connected to Wi-Fi
If you still have no internet, continue to the next steps
      • If not → Tap your network and enter the password

    Important:

    • Make sure you select the correct Wi-Fi network name
    • If the password has changed, reconnect to the network

Step 3: restart your devices (quick fix)

    Temporary connection issues are common.

    1. Restart your Xperia smartphone
    2. Turn off your router, wait 1 minute, then turn it back on

    Step 4: improve signal strength

    1. Check the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar:
      • Full or nearly full icon (3–4 bars) → Strong signal
      • Partially filled icon (1–2 bars) → Weak signal
      • No Wi-Fi icon → No signal or not connected
    2. Move closer to your router

Weak or no signal can prevent your device from connecting or staying connected.

    Signal can be affected by:

    • Walls and floors
    • Metal objects
    • Distance from the router

Step 5: forget and reconnect to the network

This resolves many connection issues caused by saved settings.

    1. Go to SettingsNetwork & InternetWi-Fi
    2. Tap your network name
    3. Select Forget
    4. Reconnect by selecting the network again and entering the password

Step 6: complete login for public or guest networks

Try this if you are using public Wi-Fi (for example in a hotel, café, or office).

Some networks require a browser login before you can access the internet.

    • Open your web browser after connecting
    • Follow the login page instructions

Tip: If no page appears, try opening a website manually.
