No sound from wired headset connected to Xperia smartphone

If you can hear no sound coming from a wired headset plugged into your Xperia smartphone, it's possible that the headset's plug isn't compatible with your smartphone. 

Compatible plugs

Xperia smartphones support headsets with a 3-pole or a 4-pole* (3.5 mm diameter) plug, as shown in the images below.

(*) NOTE: If you're using a 4-pole-plug headset, make sure it complies with CTIA standards. You can find this information in your headset's instruction manual.

Incompatible plugs

Headsets with a 5-pole plug do not work with Xperia smartphones.
