Material You: How to change your Xperia smartphone's colour theme in a few seconds

What is Material You?

Material You is a personalisation feature in Google's Android operating system that gives you control over the look and feel of your smartphone. Thanks to Dynamic Colour, (i.e., one of the key traits of Material You), you can select your favourite wallpaper and let your phone transform the general colour theme of your smartphone. You can then pick different colour combinations to express your unique style.

What Android versions support Material You?

Material You was introduced in Android 12, so it may not be available on older Android versions. If your smartphone doesn't support Material You, you can check what other wallpaper customisation options are available in the Settings menu.

How do I change the colour theme of my Xperia smartphone using Material You?

To use Material You and change the colour theme of your Xperia smartphone, follow these steps:

1. Find an empty spot on your Home screen, then tap and hold your screen. 
2. Select Wallpaper and style from the drop-down menu that appears on the screen.
   • Alternatively, you can access Wallpaper and style from your smartphone's Settings menu.
3. You can either select a new wallpaper by tapping "Change wallpaper" or pick a pre-set colour theme under "Wallpaper colours" or "Basic colours". 
4. Once you've selected your colour combination, you'll notice a change in the colour theme of various UI (user interface) elements on your smartphone.
