Help! My Xperia fingerprint sensor doesn’t work or stopped working
What to do if your Xperia fingerprint sensor doesn't register or recognise your fingerprint

Is your Xperia fingerprint sensor not working properly? If it fails to recognise or register your fingerprint, our troubleshooting guide may be able to help.
Keep in mind the fingerprint sensor is located on the power button.
Before you start
For the sensor to recognise your fingerprint, a certain number of feature points must be present. If your fingerprint scan doesn't contain enough feature points, you may not be able to complete the authentication process.
Your Xperia may also have trouble registering or recognising your fingerprint if your fingertips are:
- Wrinkled or wet (after taking a bath, washing dishes, etc.)
- Sweaty or greasy (after exercising, applying hand cream, etc.)
- Dirty (dirt, mud, oil, etc.)
- Extremely dry
- Rough or injured (cut, inflamed, etc.)
- Abraded or faded (due to aging, etc.)
- Different in size than when you first registered them (due to weight loss, weight gain, etc.)
To improve the fingerprint authentication process, try wiping or washing your hands clean, or authenticating with a different finger.
If the sensor still doesn't recognise your fingerprint, continue with the steps below.
Troubleshooting Guide
Run a diagnostic test in the Support app
