System Requirements

Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new AV receiver model.

If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your AV Receiver is connected to, so if the receiver is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input.
  2. Turn on the AV Receiver.
  3. Press HOME - The home menu is displayed on the TV screen.
  4. Select "Settings", then press Enter. The Settings menu list appears on the TV screen.
  5. At the Settings menu, select Network then press ENTER using arrow keys on the remote control.
  6. Select Software Update and press ENTER.
  7. Select Version and press ENTER.
  8. The firmware version currently installed on the AV receiver will be listed on the television. - If the version number is 1.095 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.

Install

What you need:

  • an Ethernet cable to connect your AV Receiver to the internet
  • an active internet connection
  • a compatible TV

How to make sure the update goes smoothly

Updating is usually very simple. Here's how you can make sure it goes right first time:

  • Read the instructions carefully or you could end up damaging your AV Receiver
  • Don't turn the AV Receiver off - or disconnect it from the power - while it's updating.
  • Don't press any buttons, except the ones mentioned in the instructions.

Set up the equipment:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your AV Receiver is connected to, so if the receiver is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input.
  2. Connect the LAN terminal on the AV Receiver to your internet source using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Turn on the AV Receiver.

Get the update:

  1. On the AV receiver remote control, press theHOME button, and then wait until the home menu is displayed on the television before proceeding.
  2. Select Settingsfrom the home menu, then press Enter.- The Settings menu list appears on the TV screen.
  3. Select Network then press Enter.
  4. Select Software Update, then press Enter.
  5. Select Update, then press Enter.
  6. When the message "Found latest update." appears on the TV screen press Enter.
  7. Select OK then press Enter.Confirm the message and also read the "END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR SONY SOFTWARE", then press Enter.
  8. Select Agree , then press Enter.
  9. "Complete!" appears on the display panel after the software update is finished. After the upgrade is completed, the AV Receiver will automatically restart.
  10. Check the current firmware version to confirm that the upgrade has successfully installed.- If the version number is 1.095, the firmware upgrade was successful.

Questions & Answers

What to do if you have problems updating your AV Receiver firmware using the internet.

The message "Cannot connect" shows on the TV.
The problem might be with the network connection.

  1. Check the LAN cable is connected.
  2. In the network settings, check you have confirmed whether or not your AV Receiver has its own IP address.
  3. Try the update again.

The power went off while the update was in progress.
Turn the receiver on and try the update again.

The update process has been going for over 40 minutes and hasn't finished

  1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the mains, then reconnect it after several minutes.
  2. The receiver will update the software automatically.
