What is Hybrid Image Stabilisation (HIS) and what are the advantages of using it?

Xperia 1, Xperia 5, Xperia 1 II and Xperia 5 II have Hybrid Image Stabilisation (HIS).

Hybrid Image Stabilisation (HIS), as the name suggests, means that the camera combines Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) simultaneously.

With Hybrid Image Stabilisation, videos can be captured with less blur even in challenging conditions. Optical Steady Shot is based on Sony’s digital imaging technology as well as the optimised algorithm to run OIS and EIS at the same time.

We have always had Steady Shot, which is EIS based on digital imaging technology. Together with this, we introduce Optical Steady Shot as well as an improved algorithm to run two technologies in the most optimised way, so that you can take blur-free videos in low light even while walking.
