You might experience that you can’t use two SIM cards and one memory card simultaneously in some Xperia devices. This is because the hybrid SIM tray/trays used in these devices only allow you to insert an additional SIM card or a memory card. The hybrid SIM tray occupies less space. If you want to use two SIM cards, it’s not possible to expand the device's storage using a memory card.

Note! 

Some Xperia models do not feature a hybrid SIM tray in their dual SIM variants. On these devices, it is possible to use two SIM cards and a microSD card simultaneously.

In the Xperia XZ Premium Dual SIM and the Xperia XZ1 Dual, the SIM card trays fit one SIM card. The memory card tray allows you to use either a second SIM card or a memory card.

Hybrid SIM tray models

Dual-SIM devices with two trays

 Xperia 10 III Dual SIM / Xperia PRO-I Dual SIM

Your device only supports nano-SIM cards. Dual-SIM devices support either two nano-SIM cards or a nano-SIM card and a memory card.

Note! 

• To prevent data loss, make sure you turn off your device before dragging out the tray to remove the nano-SIM card (or cards) or memory card from the device.
• Even if you insert two SIM cards that support 5G, you can only use 5G on the SIM card set for data traffic. You cannot use 5G on two SIM cards simulataneously.
• Do not cut your SIM card, as this may damage your device.

1. Drag out the SIM card tray.
2. Place the primary SIM card securely in position for SIM 1.
3. Place the second SIM card (SIM2) or the memory card securely in the tray, in the correct orientation.
4. Gently push the SIM card tray back into the slot until it fits into place. 

Xperia 1 II Dual SIM  / Xperia 10 II Dual SIM / Xperia 5 II Dual SIM / Xperia PRO Dual SIM / Xperia 1 III Dual SIM / Xperia 5 III Dual SIM 

To insert either two nano-SIM cards or a nano-SIM card and a memory card

Your device only supports nano-SIM cards. Dual-SIM devices support the use of either two nano-SIM cards or a nano-SIM card and a memory card.

Dual-SIM devices are not available in all markets or from all operators.

1. Drag out the SIM card tray.
2. Place the primary SIM card securely in position for SIM1.

Xperia 10 Dual SIM

To insert either two nano-SIM cards or a nano-SIM card and a memory card

1. Drag out the SIM and memory card trays.
2. Place the primary SIM card securely in position for SIM1.
3. Place the second SIM card (SIM2) or the memory card securely in the tray, in the correct orientation.
4. Gently push the trays back into the slots until they fit into place.

Xperia XZ1 Dual SIM

To insert two SIM cards

1. Drag out tray 1 and tray 2.
2. Place the primary SIM card securely in tray 1.
3. Place the second SIM card securely in tray 2.
4. Gently push first tray 1, then tray 2, back into their slots until they fit into place.

Xperia XZ1 Dual SIM

To insert one SIM card and one micro SD card

1. Drag out the memory card tray and the SIM card tray.
2. Place the SIM card securely in the SIM card tray.
3. Place the memory card securely in the memory card tray.

Push the SIM card tray first, then the memory card tray, back into their slots until they fit into place.

To insert two SIM cards

1. Drag out the memory card tray and the SIM card tray.
2. Place SIM 1 securely in the SIM card tray.
3. Place SIM 2 securely in the memory card tray.
4. Push first the SIM card tray, then the memory card tray, back into their slots until they fit into place.

Xperia XZ Premium Dual SIM

To insert one SIM card and one microSD card

1. Drag out the memory card tray and the SIM card tray.
2. Place the SIM card securely in the SIM card tray.
3. Place the memory card securely in the memory card tray.
4. Gently push first the SIM card tray, then the memory card tray, back into their
   slots until they fit into place.
