VAIO Gate is your personal multimedia portal, appearing as a shaded curve at the top of your screen. Bringing the mouse inside the curve will bring the full launcher out:

  • Fully integrated onto your desktop for quick access with large icons.
  • Simple and easy to use - click an icon to go straight to a program such as VAIO Care.
  • Customize VAIO Gate to your specific needs by moving icons within the browser or adding and removing them completely by simple drag and drop operations.
  • RSS feed enables web recommendations and links.
To access VAIO Gate, move your mouse to the middle of the top of your desktop. VAIO Gate slide into view from above.



How to change the order of the programs in VAIO Gate?
  1. Mouse over the icon of the program you want to move to a different spot.
  2. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the icon to it's new spot.

How to add a program to VAIO Gate?
  1. Find the icon of the program you want to add in the start menu or on the desktop.
  2. Mouse over the icon, hold down the left mouse button and drag the icon to VAIO Gate.
  3. Find the spot you want it to be in and release the left mouse button there.
    Note: the icon will be added to VAIO Gate, but won't be removed from it's original location.

How to remove a program from VAIO Gate?
  1. Mouse over the icon you want to remove.
  2. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the icon to the desktop.
    Note: the icon will be removed from VAIO Gate, but won't be placed on the desktop.
How do I add or remove RSS feeds in VAIO Gate?
  • VAIO Gate displays RSS feeds that you subscribed to via Internet Explorer.
  • Managing RSS feeds is handled via Internet Explorer.

VAIO Gate Options
To access VAIO Gate options, please click on the options icon:



Load at startup is set by default to 'Yes' and makes VAIO Gate start automatically when Windows restarts.
Display mode determines if VAIO Gate's bottom edge is visible while VAIO Gate is not being used.
RSS display time determines for how long each RSS headline will be shown, or if none will be shown.
