Introducing Android™ 17
With Android 17, you can now use Desktop mode with an external display on supported Xperia models. Customization options have been expanded for the Quick settings panel, Lock screen, and Home screen. Android 17 also makes screen recording easier. Together, these updates provide a more efficient and seamless experience when using your Xperia.

New ways to use your Xperia on a larger display (Xperia 1 VIII/Xperia 1 VII/Xperia 1 VI)
We can do so much with our smartphones, but some tasks are easier on a bigger screen.
Android 17’s Desktop mode lets you do just that. Simply connect a supported Xperia to an external display and you can run multiple apps just as you would on a computer. Use Desktop mode with a keyboard and mouse to check your email and view documents with ease.
Wallpapers and icons, just the way you want them
The updated “Wallpaper & style” feature gives you even more ways to personalize your Xperia.
In addition to refreshed wallpaper and clock designs, you can now customize the shape and style of your icons. Personalize your Xperia to suit your lifestyle and mood.

Quick access to your frequently used features
The Quick settings panel has a fresh new look!
You can now resize and arrange the tiles to organize your frequently used features just the way you want. Short descriptions can be displayed on lager tiles, giving you an overview of each feature at a glance.

Screen recording gets an upgrade!
Ever feel like sharing your gameplay or tips on how to use your Xperia with friends or family?
The screen recording feature is here to help! And now it’s even easier to use with Android 17.
Record your entire screen or just a single app. You can even record device and microphone audio at the same time, making it easy to include commentary in your videos.
Custom looks with AI Camera Assistant (Xperia 1 VIII)
The AI Camera Assistant in Photo mode has been upgraded.
You can now register up to three custom looks and name them whatever you like. Save your favorite color tones and settings as custom looks, then quickly switch to the perfect look for any scene.
Whether you’re photographing landscapes, food, or everyday moments—you can snap great photos in your own style more effortlessly than ever!
