If your Sony Camera is stuck while updating with a memory card. No need to panic. We can easily sort this out with a couple of quick steps. So normally during the process with a memory card, your camera will display a black screen on the LCD for about 6 minutes. Sometimes it can be a little bit longer, sometimes it can be a little bit shorter. But if it's been displaying the screen for more than 30 minutes, then you know that the update has gotten stuck and we're going to need to take a couple of steps to help the update complete. So I know in the previous video I said this, do not take the battery out while it is in progress. However, this is a bit of a different situation. So we're going to have to take the battery out to interrupt this update process so that we can get it to complete. It's very important you only do this if the camera has been stuck updating for more than 30 minutes. So if your camera has been displaying this screen for more than 30 minutes, you know that the update is stuck. What we're going to do to fix it, switch the camera into the off position. You need to take the battery out and take out the SD card you were using for the update. Then take a freshly formatted different SD card and redownlo d the update from the Sony support website onto this SD card. It's important that you remember to delete the old update files from your downloads folder or your computer might rename the file when you download the new one. The file needs to have the name BODYDATA.DAT. If your computer renames it to BODYDATA.DAT(1) then when you put the card into the camera, the update won't work. Make sure the file is named BODYDATA.DAT. So once you ha e the new update file on a fresh SD card, you want to put this fresh SD card into the camera. Make sure it's in slot one, put the battery back into the camera and switch it on. Once you've done that, the screen will remain completely black, but the LED should start blinking again to let you know that the update is resuming. Once that happens, it might take about 15 or so minutes for your camera to complete the update from this state. But if the LED is blinking again, you know that the update is resuming.
