How do I transfer data on my smartphone to the SD card?

You can transfer data from the internal storage to a memory card or by using Files, a file manager application. Depending on your Xperia device, the Files application may be pre-installed on your device. Alternatively, you can also download a third-party file manager app* from Google Play.

To transfer data to an SD card of newer Android versions

Go to Settings → Storage → Transfer to SD
 

To Transfer data (Media file / Documents) using the files application to an SD card on older Android versions 

1. Find and tap the Files app . It's sometimes placed in the Other folder on the Applications screen.
2. If the device has an SD card, tap the three dots menu→ Show internal storage. If not, go to step 3.
3. Tap  .
4. Tap  to browse the internal storage,   SD Card (if available) to browse an external memory card or Drive (if available) to access files on your Google Drive.
5. Touch and hold a file to highlight it. You can then share  the file, or tap and then move or copy the file to another location.
