Recommended settings when shooting self-portraits with the DSC-RX0 using the VCT-SGR1 Shooting Grip

Recommended settings for still image shooting

When shooting a self-portrait, you cannot use the monitor to check whether or not the camera is focused on the subject. Therefore, it is recommended that you enable audio signals to alert you when the camera is focused by beeping. Set Face Detection to On to enable audio signals.

Camera setup procedure

1. Select MENU ->  (Camera Settings1) -> Shoot Mode -> Intelligent Auto.
2. Select MENU ->  (Camera Settings1) -> Focus Mode -> Single-shot AF.
3. Select MENU ->  (Camera Settings1) -> Face Detection -> On.
4. Select MENU ->  (Camera Settings2) -> Audio signals -> On.

Shooting procedure

1. The minimum shooting distance is approximately 50 cm from the lens. Make sure that the camera is at least 50 cm away from your face.

2. Press the PHOTO button on the VCT-SGR1 halfway down to focus. When the camera focuses on the subject, you may hear an audio signal.
    
3. Press the PHOTO button all the way down to shoot the image.
    

Recommended settings for movie recording

When recording a movie of yourself, it is recommended that you set NEAR Mode in PF to On. You can focus within the range of approximately 50 cm to 1 m. When Face Detection is set to On, the camera detects the faces of subjects and adjusts the exposure settings and performs image processing automatically.

Camera setup procedure

1. Select MENU ->  (Camera Settings1) -> Shoot Mode -> Intelligent Auto.
2. Select MENU ->  (Camera Settings1) -> Focus Mode -> Preset Focus.
3. Select MENU ->  (Camera Settings1) -> NEAR Mode in PF -> On.
4. Select MENU ->  (Camera Settings1) -> Face Detection -> On.

Shooting procedure

1. Keep your face within the range of approximately 50 cm to 1 m from the lens. The camera can focus within this range.

2. Start recording the movie by pressing the MOVIE button on the VCT-SGR1.
