The inserted memory card is not detected by the camcorder or Error code C:13:01 is displayed

Make sure the memory card is compatible with the camera. Please check the compatibility information in the instruction manual of your camera or the support website of your model.
Purchasing a memory card from an authorized Sony dealer will ensure your card is genuine and compatible with your camera.

If the memory card is not detected at all by the camera, it could be because the contacts (metal part) of the memory card are not clean. Sometimes dirt on the contacts can cause connectivity problems.
Clean the memory card by wiping the electrical contact with a microfiber and then insert the card again.

In certain cases it will be needed to format your memory card.

WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. When formatting a memory card all information stored on the card will be lost.

IMPORTANT: Before using your memory card with your camera, make sure it is formatted from the camcorder and not from a computer.

1. Select Menu
2. Select Setup
3. Select Media Setting
4. Select Format and Select the Media
   
    
   

If after having applied these instructions, the memory card is still not detected, please reset your camera and reformat the memory card in the camcorder.

Reset the camera using one of the below options.
To determine whether or not your camera has a RESET button or Initialize option, refer to the instruction manual that was supplied with the product.

1. Using the Initialize option in the menu
   
2. Using the Reset button on the camera
   
   
3. Performing a manual power reset
   
   • Turn off the camera
   • Remove the battery pack
   • Remove the button-sized lithium battery
   • Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds
   • Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery
   • Reinsert the battery pack
   • Turn on the camera

This will ensure that the camcorder is not wrongly configured.

If the memory card is detected in other devices and working properly there and even other memory cards are not detected in your Sony camcorder, the device is probably out of order and a repair may be necessary. If you believe this to be the case, please contact us for further assistance.
