Red, green or orange lights are ON or blinking on the TV

Sony televisions include indication LEDs or lights on the lower front side of the television. These are used to indicate the status of the TV or to indicate that certain features are enabled.

NOTE: For model-specific information regarding your television, refer to the supplied operating manual.

  1. Light sensor

  3. Picture Off/Timer
    Lights up in green when you select Picture Off.
    Lights up in orange when you set the timer.
    Lights up and/or blinks in orange during a software upgrade.
  4. Standby
    Lights up in red when your TV is in standby mode, PC power saving mode or during a software upgrade.
  5. Power
    Lights up in green when the TV is on.


Red

 System Error:

  • The red LED remains On continuously on some models to indicate that the TV power is Off. This is a normal indication for your TV.
  • If a Red LED is blinking and the TV is not working properly it means that the TV has detected an issue or problem. Before calling customer support, please try to restore the TV operation by following the steps below.
    1. Power Off the TV, and disconnect the TV power cord from the mains.
    2. Wait 5 minutes and connect it back.
    3. Turn on the TV again.
    4. Still not OK? Contact us.

  • NOTE: 8 Times Blink - For certain models, a special reset procedure is needed if the Red LED on the front of the TV is blinking 8 times and then repeats. This is a model-specific issue that may be resolved by following these steps  (please check the answer to be sure your model is included).

Orange / Amber

 


 Timer:

  • A solid Orange/Amber light means that a timer has been set and is active on the television.
    • Sleep Timer - the TV will turn off after a set amount of time
    • On/Off Timer - turns the TV on and off at set times of the day
  • NOTE: Timers can be set, changed, or turned on/off in the Settings menu of the television.

 Software Update:

  • A blinking Orange/Amber light means that the television is receiving a software update. This only happens if your TV is connected to an active high-speed Internet connection.
    • Do not turn off the television or remove power during a software update.
    • Your remote control will not work while an update is being downloaded/installed.
    • Updates may take a few minutes to download and install. Please be patient. The TV will return to normal operation after the update finishes.
      NOTE: The TV will not respond to the remote control during the update. The software update may take a few minutes.

Green

 


 Blinking while TV is turning on:

  • A green LED that is On continuously is an indication that the TV power is on. You may get a blank screen even if the TV is on if you are on an input that has no signal. Try changing to a different input by pressing the INPUT or TV/ VIDEO button on the remote control.
  • A green LED that blinks On and Off is an indication on some models that the TV is receiving commands from the remote controller.

No Lights

     


 Normal:

  • No LED lit at all is an indication that the TV is turned off, the AC power is removed from the TV or that the  Energy Saving Switch on the side of the TV has been turned Off.
