The sound is truly not good, I expected more from so well reputable company as SONY. The cassette player is awful – and the cassette player in conjuction with CD player was the main reason I bought it. One side of the tape I can hear the other hardly. It applies to both newest tapes and oldest. I am overall quite disappointed. I do not know who wrote previous reviews? I do not have hearing problems and I am not satisfied. Maybe just my device is faulty? I honestly do not know. I have better sound from my phone, and it shouldn't be like that - that for sure.

We are sorry to hear that you have sound issues with your CFD-S70. This is not the norm as we strive to deliver the best quality possible.
Regarding the cassette player issues, it might be helpful to try cleaning the tape player head and drive mechanism. Use a dry cotton swab to clean the surface of the pinch roller, play/recording head, and erase-head.
Additionally, ensure the cassette tape is compatible with your device, as some players won't play High Bias or Metal tapes.

I bought this CD/Radio/Cassette player to replace my previous Sony one which I'd had for about 15 years. This one is really good - simpler to use and a better radio reception, plus the sound is good when you play CDs. A great little radio to keep in the kitchen when you want some music or want to record a radio programme. Can definitely recommend.

Thus far I am extremely pleased with this Sony player. I didn't want a complicated 'all singing all dancing' music centre, and this has all the features that I need. It is easy to use, and I like the fact that it is a relatively compact unit, not taking up as much space as my previous one. Also a competitive price for what you get.

I bought this a few weeks ago to replace an old CD player that wouldn't play certain CD tracks. I listen to it mainly as background, whilst in the kitchen. Works fine for what I want - though I've only used the CD player so far, and not the radio or tape function. Seems easy enough to figure out how to use.

I bought this set as a replacement for a similar Sony set which stopped working after around 12 years of use. The digital FM and AM tuners work well with weak signals, and the big loudspeakers are nearly HiFi in their sound.

It’s almost impossible to find a machine that will still play tapes and CDs as well as a radio and as I’m reluctant to part with my collection, I was very pleased to find this model. It’s compact so unobtrusive unlike the ghetto blasters of the 80s and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. Sound quality is pretty good considering it doesn’t have separate speakers. Very pleased with my purchase.

The Sound Quality is good and it is quite compact portable unit the lid of the CD compartment has to be lifted manually which was a little disappointing but overall this is a good CD and Cassette Player with FM Radio (I don't really use the radio though). Quite Easy to use and not too many buttons to work out.
