How to reset your Sony TV (soft restart, power cycle or factory data reset)

    * Remember, a factory reset erases settings and requires setting up the TV again. 


    Responsive TV Issues

    If your TV is responsive but has specific issues (app crashes, random turn-offs, etc.), try:

    • Soft Reset (Android TV & Google TV): Press and hold the POWER button until the TV restarts or a menu appears, then select Restart.
    • Power Cycle (All TVs): Unplug the TV power cord for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

    How to perform a Factory Data Reset

    If previous steps fail, but you can access the settings, perform a Factory Data Reset in the system settings:

    • On the remote control, press the quick settings button(Quick Settings button), HOME button or ACTION MENU button, depending on your TV/remote control.  
    • Select the settings cogor arrow. 
    • The following steps will vary depending on your TV menu options: 
      • Select System → About → Reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes. 
      • Select Device Preferences → Reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes. 
      • Select Storage & reset → Factory data reset → Erase everything → Yes. 

    The factory reset may take a few minutes. Wait until the process completes, and the TV will start the initial setup. 


    Unresponsive TV Issues

    If your TV is unresponsive (stuck, not powering on, etc.), attempt:

    • Power Cycle (All TVs): Unplug for 30 seconds, then plug back in.
    • Manual Factory Reset (Android TV & Google TV): If settings access is impossible.

    How to perform a Forced Factory Data Reset

    If it's impossible to access the settings with the remote, do a Manual Factory Data Reset using the buttons on the TV. 

    Follow the instructions according to the number of buttons on your TV:

    Where to find the power button on your TV?  

    Type A: Your TV model has one button  

    Type B: Your TV model has three buttons (left, right or back of the TV)  

    Type C: Your TV model has more than three buttons
