I can't connect the app to the TV

My TV has been updated to the most recent firmware version

If your TV has the most recent firmware version, the app connects to the TV through Wi-Fi.

If any of the following connection error messages appear in the app: 'Failed to connect', 'Connection lost' or 'Channel editing suspended', follow the troubleshooting steps below:

My TV hasn't been updated to the most recent firmware version yet

We always recommend keeping the TV firmware on your TV up to date. If your TV is still running the previous firmware, the app will connect to the TV through Bluetooth

If any of the following connection error messages appear in the app: 'Connection failed', 'Connection to... lost' or 'Channel editing suspended', follow the troubleshooting steps below:

    Troubleshoot Bluetooth connection issues

Why are the channel list changes I made in the app not reflected in the TV Guide/EPG?

The changes you made in the TV Channel Editor for BRAVIA app should normally appear in the TV Guide/Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) immediately after you’ve confirmed them. However, it can sometimes take time for the channel list to update. Please wait and check again later.

Why does the mobile app need location permissions?

If you come across a location permission request on your mobile app, it means you're connecting the app to a TV with older firmware, which can only use the app through Bluetooth. In this case, the mobile app uses Bluetooth to connect to the TV, and most OS versions in the market require the user to enable location for Bluetooth to work. However, once your TV gets the software update, which enables connection via Wi-Fi, you won't need to use Bluetooth anymore.

Why does the mobile app need camera permissions?

You need to grant camera permissions to the app so that it can use the camera to scan the QR code on your TV.

Why does the mobile device need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the TV?

Your mobile device (e.g., smartphone) and TV need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi to establish a TCP/IP connection.

I have an older version of the mobile app. Can I still connect the app to the TV?

You might not be able to connect the app to the TV if the installed TV firmware does not support connecting the app through Bluetooth. We recommend using the latest TV firmware and the latest version of the TV Channel Editor for BRAVIA mobile app.

My TV has an older TV firmware version. Can I still connect the app to the TV?

Yes, previous TV firmware will be detected when scanning the QR code on the TV with your smartphone. You can establish a connection through Bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi. However, we always recommend downloading the latest TV firmware version. If you are connecting to a TV with older firmware, the mobile app will direct you to use Bluetooth as explained below:

    1. Scan the QR code displayed on your TV with your mobile device to connect.
    2. Tap 'Connect via Bluetooth'.
    3. Tap either 'While using the app' or 'Only this time' to allow TV Channel Editor for BRAVIA to access your device's location.
    4. Tap 'Allow' to allow TV Channel Editor for BRAVIA to find, connect to and determine the relative position of nearby devices.
    5. Tap 'Allow' if you see the pop-up 'TV Channel Editor for BRAVIA wants to turn on Bluetooth'.
    6. Select your TV name from the list under ‘Connect to your TV’ to pair it with your smartphone. The TV name is displayed on the 'Install and open the app' screen on the TV. A Bluetooth pairing request will appear both on your TV screen and mobile app. Ensure both pairing requests show the same pairing code (e.g., '410211'). Select PAIR on your smartphone and on your TV to confirm the pairing request. You do not need to enter the pairing code on any device.
    7. Once the app has been connected to your TV, the 'You are connected!' screen will appear on your TV.

IMPORTANT: Please do not exit the 'You are connected' screen on your TV while editing the channel list on your mobile device. Otherwise, the connection might be lost.
