Pairing procedure for Mac OS devices.

    Are you looking to connect your Sony Bluetooth headphones or wireless speakers to your Mac? 

    In this quick guide, we'll walk you through the steps to pair your Sony devices with your Mac OS computer, adjust sound settings and what to do if your headphones don't appear on the Bluetooth list.

    Connecting Sony Bluetooth Headphones or Speakers with Your Mac

    1. Put your Sony device in pairing mode.

    Refer to your Sony device's Help Guide for instructions on how to activate pairing mode.

    • Example WH-1000XM5: Press and hold the power button for 7 seconds to activate pairing mode 
    • Example SRS-XB41: Press and hold the power button/  PAIRING button until you hear the voice guidance and the Bluetooth indicator begins to flash quickly.

    2. On your Mac, open "System Preferences."

    Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your Mac screen and select "System Preferences."

    3. Access "Bluetooth."

    In the System Preferences window, locate and click on "Bluetooth."

    4. Enable Bluetooth if it's not already on.

    If Bluetooth is off, click the "Turn Bluetooth On" button.

    5. Find your Sony device in the list.

    Your Mac will start searching for nearby Bluetooth devices. Look for your Sony headphones or speakers.

    6. Click on your Sony device's name and follow the on-screen instructions.

    Click on your Sony device's name in the list, then follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process. You might be prompted to enter a PIN or passkey if needed (0000).

    7. Successful Connection: Your Sony device should show as "Connected."

    Once paired, your Sony device should show as "Connected" in the Bluetooth preferences.

    8. Select the right Sound Output

    To change your Mac's audio output to your newly paired Sony device, click the volume icon in the menu bar and choose your Sony device from the list.

    For advanced sound settings, return to "System Preferences," select "Sound," and navigate to the "Output" tab. Here, you can fine-tune volume and sound quality settings.

    Troubleshooting: if your Sony Headphones or speaker is not in the Bluetooth list

    1. Retry Pairing Mode: Put your Sony headphones or speakers back into pairing mode and try the pairing process again.
