System Requirements

Your firmware may already be up to date, especially if you have a new AV receiver model.

If you're not sure, it's easy to check which version of firmware you have:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your AV Receiver is connected to, so if the receiver is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input.
  2. Turn on the AV Receiver.
  4. PressMENU.The home menu is displayed on the TV screen.
  5. At theHome menu,selectSettingsthen pressENTERusing the arrow keys on the remote control.
  6. At the Settings menu, selectNetworkthen pressENTERusing arrow keys on the remote control.
  7. SelectSoftware Updateand pressENTER.
  8. SelectVersionand pressENTER.
  9. The firmware version currently installed on the AV receiver will be listed on the television.- If the version number is 2.11 or higher, you already have the most recent firmware version.


What you need:

  • an Ethernet cableto connect your AV Receiver to the internet
  • an active internet connection
  • a compatible TV

How to make sure the update goes smoothly

Updating is usually very simple. Here's how you can make sure it goes right first time:

  • Read the instructions carefullyor you could end up damaging your AV Receiver
  • Don't turn the AV Receiver off -or disconnect it from the power - while it's updating.
  • Don't press any buttons,except the ones mentioned in the instructions.

Set up the equipment:

  1. Turn on your TV and check it's tuned to the input your AV Receiver is connected to, so if the receiver is connected to the HDMI 2 socket, choose HDMI 2 as the input.
  2. Connect the LAN terminal on the AV Receiver to your internet source using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Turn on the AV Receiver.

Get the update:

  1. PressHOME NETWORKto select theHome Network function.
  2. PressMENU.The menu is displayed on the TV screen.
  3. SelectSettingsthen pressEnter.- The Settings menu list appears on the TV screen.
  4. SelectNetworkthen pressEnter.
  5. SelectSoftware Update,then pressEnter.
  6. SelectUpdate,then pressEnter.
  7. When the message "Found latest update." appears on the TV screen pressEnter.
  8. SelectOKthen pressEnter.Confirm the message and also read the "END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR SONY SOFTWARE", then pressEnter.
  9. SelectAgree, then pressEnter.
  10. "Complete!"appears on the display panel after the software update is finished. After the upgrade is completed, press Power to turn off the receiver. And the receiver is updated to the new version.
  11. Check the current firmware version to confirm that the upgrade has successfully installed.- If the version number is 2.11, the firmware upgrade was successful.

Questions & Answers

What to do if you have problems updating your AV Receiver firmware using the internet.

The message "Cannot connect" shows on the TV.
The problem might be with the network connection.

  1. Check the LAN cable is connected.
  2. In the network settings, check you have confirmed whether or not your AV Receiver has its own IP address.
  3. Try the update again.

The power went off while the update was in progress.
Turn the receiver on and try the update again.

The update process has been going for over 20 minutes and hasn't finished

  1. Disconnect the AC power cord from the mains, then reconnect it after several minutes.
  2. The receiver will update the software automatically.
